Congratulations to GNCC Racers in 36th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC
AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship
GNCC Riders Excel in America’s Premier Amateur Motocross Race
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (August 16, 2017) – Racer Productions is pleased to congratulate six participants of the AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, on their impressive performances at the 36th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship. The world’s largest and most prestigious amateur motocross race took place July 31 through August 5 at the historic Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
Korie Steede is no stranger to the AMA Amateur National, and managed to earn her best career finish yet in 2017. After finishing inside the top five during her first two motos (5-4), Steede earned a big win in the third moto to place third overall. Steede also qualified in the Supermini 2 (13-16) class, but two unfortunate DNF’s and a 27th place finish slated her 41st overall.
Mason Raynor is having a standout performance in the Micro XC (8-9) class, currently sitting in the runner-up position in the GNCC points championship, but the North Carolina native also found success at The Ranch where he finished in the top-twenty in the 51cc (7-8) Limited class.
Former full-time XC1 Pro rider Garrett Edmisten competed in the ultra-competitive Vet 30+ class where he lined up against some of the biggest names in vet racing like Taylor Painter, Andrew Matusek and Justin Kelly. After finishing second in the nation last year, Edmisten backed it up with the fourth overall position this year – where he never finished outside the top-five.
Chris Venditti, XC2 250 Pro racer, returned to The Ranch after a five-year hiatus in the 250 B and 450 B divisions. Venditti placed 26th in 250 B, but his crowning achievement was recovering from a DNF in the first 450 B moto to finish out the week 11-12 for 22nd overall. Venditti competed against a familiar face in the 450 B class, Cole Kirchoff, who finished a notable 17th (23-20-17).
The 2015 125 B/C GNCC National Champion, Hayden Vancuren, shifted his focus to motocross this season qualifying in 250 C and 250 C Jr. Limited (12-16). Unfortunately, Vancuren’s week was cut short and he was unable to compete after the first 250 C race.
Shelby Rolen, WXC and WMX competitor, returned to her grassroots of motocross and participated in the final round of the Onsia Sound Art Women’s Motocross Championship, which was held in conjunction with the AMA Amateur National. Rolen scored a 4-3 moto tally, for third overall. Her impressive finish also vaulted her into the runner-up position in the overall championship standings.
RacerTV.com provided over 46 hours of LIVE race coverage throughout the week, resulting in nearly 270,000 live views during race week. The archived footage is now available for viewing HERE. In addition, two one-hour cable television shows will air on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) later this fall on Saturday, November 11 at 2:30 p.m. and Saturday, December 23 at 3:00 p.m. EST. Each show will re-air once with the first on Wednesday, November 15 at 2:20 p.m., and the second on Wednesday, December 27 at 3:00 p.m. EST.
