Thad Duvall Aims to Keep Momentum Rolling into Dunlop Tomahawk GNCC
GNCC Racing Travels to Odessa, New York
MORGANTOWN, W.Va (June 9, 2017) – The third annual Dunlop Tomahawk GNCC will take place this weekend, June 10 and 11, at the Seneca Highlands in Odessa, New York. This race serves as round seven of the 2017 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship. Just three weeks after one of the muddiest GNCC races in history, Rockstar Energy/Factory Husqvarna Racing’s Thad Duvall is back and ready to take home his second win of the season.
Duvall heads into this weekend after taking his first win of the season in Indiana. Although this was Duvall’s first win of the season it wasn’t by chance – his past results make him a top championship contender. Duvall sits 26 points out of the lead behind FMF/KTM Factory Racing’s Kailub Russell for the title after a mechanical issue at the first round. However, since then Duvall has yet to finish off the podium. With the added momentum knowing that this was a race that Russell has issues at last year, it could be the start to Duvall’s winning streak.
Another rider who will be looking for the front spot this weekend is Rockstar Energy/Factory Husqvarna Racing’s Josh Strang. After taking the win at last year’s event, Strang will be looking to do the same this year. After struggling with an injury early on, Strang’s recent podium finish proves he is capable of taking another win at the Tomahawk GNCC on Sunday.
SRT/KTM’s Steward Baylor struggled with health issues in Indiana, but was able to resolve them and get back on track for this weekend. N-Fab/AmPro Yamaha’s Ricky Russell will be aiming to keep his streak alive with another podium finish, while Beta USA’s Jordan Ashburn keeps charging to find a spot on the box.
Sunday’s race schedule is as follows: Youth Bike racing begins at 8 a.m., followed by amateurs and women at 10 a.m., and pros and top amateurs at 1 p.m.
Adult (12+) gate admission is $20 for the full weekend and $10 for kids (6-11), with kids five and under free. Gate admission includes pro pit access and pro autographs at no additional charge. Camping will be available to racers only.
This weekend is co-sanctioned with WNYOA, a series that produces local racing events in New York, and will ultimately bring out a full slate of local racers. All local racers are invited to compete at this event, as GNCC Racing offers classes for riders of all skill and experience levels. The amateur race entry fee is $50 and riders can sign up at the track. To learn more about GNCC Racing please visit the GNCC101 webpage.
