With the Mountaineer Run GNCC taking place on just one week ago, September 24, and the Powerline Park GNCC just this past Saturday, October 1, Westley Wolfe had a strong showing at both of the back-to-back Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) rounds.

Dust was a major factor just one week ago at the Mountaineer Run GNCC and Wolfe quickly found that out once he left the line toward the back of the pack. After working his way through the field, Wolfe had his eyes set on making the pass for second as he was struck with bad luck. As the two-lap card came out, the rough and rugged conditions took its toll on Wolfe’s quad when the swing arm broke in half and the bolt was rattled loose. Wolfe continued racing as he held the bolt in with his foot. As he fought through the challenging situation Wolfe managed to pull off an impressive third place finish.

Wolfe got off to a much better start this past Saturday at the Powerline Park GNCC where he headed into the Ohio woods mid-pack. After securing the lead on the second lap, Wolfe was able to get a taste of the XC1 Pro class where he rode with many of the top competitors. Wolfe continued to ride one of his best racers of the season where he crossed the line first in XC2 Pro-Am and sixth overall.

Wolfe has proven that he still remains a contender for the XC2 Pro-Am National Championship, where he sits in third by only 19 points. “My summer break was anything, but a break,” said Wolfe. “Between working with my dad and training I can tell my hard work is paying off. I’m excited to see what is in store for the season finale at Ironman.”

Wolfe will head to Sandusky, Ohio this weekend for the ATVMX banquet where he will be awarded for finishing second in the Pro Sport division, and third in Pro-Am. Following the banquet, Wolfe will begin preparing for the GNCC season finale on Saturday, October 29.
