The Tomahawk GNCC, Round 8, took place this past weekend in Odessa, NY. The course was roughly 11 miles and included a lot of fast sections with loose embedded rock throughout the course. Conditions were really dry and very dusty which played havoc on the riders vision.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Josh Strang got a good start off the line and rounded the first corner in 2nd place. As the leaders entered the woods, Strang quickly made the pass into the lead, and by the end of lap 1 he was 9 seconds ahead of 2nd place.
Over the next several laps, Josh Strang was out front and in control of the race. He was clicking off smooth, consistent, and safe laps while maitaining his lead. On the 2nd to last lap Strang was in the sights of his competition and his lead started to shrink as the white flag flew. Josh Strang was able overcome this and fiercly charge on the final lap for a well fought win. His win gave him the overall series points lead.
"Today went great! I got into the lead early and was able to stay up front all day. The whole team worked hard and we had an awesome time at this round." Said Josh Strang.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Andrew DeLong did not participate in this round due to a previously sustained injury.
