The JMR/ATVriders.com backed team of Jarrod McClure and Randy Hamilton secured two top five finishes at round five of the Grand National Cross Country Series this past weekend in Society Hill, SC. McClure battled his way through the dust to secure fourth overall in the XC1 Pro class, which moves him to fifth in the championship points. McClure’s teammate Randy Hamilton found the podium for the first time this season earning second in the XC2 Pro Am class and an impressive tenth overall for the day.

Round five of the GNCC series arrived at an all-new facility for 2016. Moree’s Sportsman’s Preserve in Society Hill, SC would host the inaugural running of the Camp Coker GNCC. The new track offered some unexpected conditions for riders as they learned they would be dealing with a sand track that would become whooped and rutted out as the race wore on. The weather was hot and humid with temps in the 80’s, so it would prove to be a grueling 2-hour race in the dust.

As the green flag waved McClure struggled to get off the starting line and went into the woods around seventh. McClure quickly made his way to sixth position where he would find himself most of the day in an intense battle for the final spot on the podium.

“I am struggling with starts, but other than that I am feeling great out there. Today went ok it was an intense battle for that third position. I swapped positions with Neal a few times and ran some good laps with Borich. We want to be battling like that for the win, not for third,” said McClure.

DWT’s McClure found himself in the fifth position going onto the last lap where he and Chris Borich were able to hook together and set a super fast pace. They were able to run down and get by Cole Richardson, and at the checkered flag McClure missed the podium behind Borich by only seven seconds.

“We ran strong all day today, and fourth is a great finish, but its’s not where I want to be. I know if I can get out front early I can run the leaders pace and be there at the end. Now fifth in points, I will get a better pick on the starting line and hopefully get better starts, “ said McClure.

JMR’s XC2 Pro Am racer Randy Hamilton just missed the holeshot again at the start of the race and settled into third place early on. Hamilton battled with Westley Wolfe and Greg Covert the first few laps as they began to gap the rest of the field. Covert hit a tree allowing Randy to get by him and into second place where he would remain until the finish.
