KTM Race Report: Webb and Robert Top Podium at Sacramento EnduroCross

RPM KTM support rider Cody Webb and FMF KTM Factory rider Taylor Robert topped the podium at the fifth round of the GEICO AMA EnduroCross Series after finishing first and second respectively.
The event, held at the Sleep Train Arena, was one of the most technical courses the riders had encountered all season. When the gate dropped for the main event, the technical aspects helped make it a fan favorite as the top riders made a few big mistakes in the opening laps which made for an exciting main event.
Webb made a mistake right out of the gate and almost crashed in the first corner. Robert made a bigger mistake in the second turn which held up about half of the pack and allowed Webb to move back into the top five. Robert quickly made some passes and got back into the top five before crashing on the third lap and dropping back to seventh place.
Meanwhile, out front, Webb had moved into the lead. Once in the lead, he rode a mistake-free race to the finish. Although Robert was turning faster lap times by jumping the entire water section, Webb had put his KTM in position for the win early on and was able to take the victory by a 22-second gap. Robert continued to charge forward and moved into podium position with four laps to go. On the final lap, he was able to make a pass on the second place ride of Colton Haaker once Haaker made a mistake in the rock turn. Robert capitalized on the error and put his KTM in the runner-up position. Robert continues to impress as he has finished in second place at both of the EnduroCross rounds he has raced since returning from his earlier season injury.
Now five rounds into the series, Webb moves into the overall point lead. He is followed closely by Haaker and Mike Brown. “It’s great to move into the points lead after being tied from the fourth event,” stated Webb. “I felt really good on this track and really like when the tracks are more difficult to manage. It really helps separate the boys from the men. I am looking forward to the next round and hopefully returning to the top step.”
