The 2015 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series presented by Maxxis, an AMA National Championship, headed to Washington, Georgia for round 2 at the annual "General" GNCC. The Maxxis/ B. Neal Motorsports machine was fired up and ready to tackle the mud after clouds opened up and let the rain pour. Rider Brycen Neal came around the first corner mid pack and sliced and diced to gain the 3rd place position by the time the pack hit the woods. The Maxxis B. Neal Motorsports pit crew made the decision to gamble and pit for fuel and goggles on lap 1. Neal lost several positions, but by the time the pack had crossed the finish line he had worked his way back up to 5th position. The very next lap Neal made his way into 2nd place when the rest of the pack pitted for fuel. It seemed the pit strategy was going to pay off, but the average lap was between 32-34min each lap. Therefore Team Manager/ Mechanic Broc Booth calculated that a second pit stop must be made. "I got two pit boards heading into lap 3" Neal says, "One said McGill +47 seconds, the next one saying pit this lap."
Knowing the rest of the pack was close behind Neal put the hammer down to gap the field so he wouldn't lose any positions while making the 2nd pit stop. "I pushed as hard as I could, and I caught up to McGill and traded positions with him a couple times and capturing the lead right before the Pro Pit area" Brycen Neal recalls. The Maxxis B. Neal Motorsports machine slid through the muck into pit. McGill would make the pass back, "Broc told me stay smart on that last lap" Neal says. On the final lap a lapper got stuck right in front of Neal losing sight of the leader McGill. "When I got unstuck I saw that Shadron, Bithell, and Fowler were all right there coming, so I knew I had to ride as hard and smart as I could that final lap" Neal said.
Brycen Neal would cross the Finish line 2nd as the checkered flag flew.
Brycen and the whole B. Neal Motosports crew want to take this opportunity to thank there sponsors that without them we couldn't be able to compete at the highest level of off-road ATV racing:
