Welcome to Quick Fill.
Well, this is the weekend we’ve all been waiting for. We’re just one day away from kicking off the 2014 AMSOIL GNCC season here in Florida and judging from the phone calls, text messages and various social media activity I can tell that everyone is feeling the anxiety and excitement of a new season. The good part is that things seem to get a little bit easier after we make it through the first round.
Just a quick note, if you’re trying to view the Mud Mucker event page from a mobile phone or even some tablets, you may not be able to see the track address or directions. If that is the case, go to the GNCCRacing.com homepage and there’s a breaking news article there or you can CLICK HERE.
Tomorrow’s (Friday) schedule will be as follows:
8 a.m. ATV registration begins
12-1 p.m. ATV Youth Practice
1-3 p.m. ATV Amateur & PM Practice
3-4 p.m. ATV Pro/PM Only Practice
5 p.m. Bike Registration begins
Saturday’s schedule:

1-3 p.m. Bike Amateur & PM Practice

Sunday’s schedule will go according to a regular GNCC event with registration beginning at 7 a.m., Bike Youth Racing at 8 a.m., Bike Amateur Racing at 10 a.m. and Bike Pro Racing at 1 p.m.
Since this year’s event is only approximately 30 minutes from Daytona International Speedway, Racer Productions has arranged for a charter bus to take our racers and their families to and from the Daytona Supercross on Saturday night. The bus will arrive to Mud Muckers at 5 p.m. and it plans to leave at 5:30 to head to the speedway. The cost will be $50 per person and includes a General Admission ticket to Daytona SX and a round trip bus ride from the GNCC to Daytona International Speedway. This is a smokin’ deal when you think about the hassle that goes into driving yourself, parking and walking around. If you’re interested in purchasing this package deal, please see Rita and the registration ladies on Friday or Saturday. The bus will max out at 54 people so don’t wait too long to reserve a spot! Daytona SX tickets will be available for purchase for $30 if you don’t want to take advantage of the bus ride. You will receive your ticket upon purchase.
Friday night the folks at Parts Unlimited/Moose Racing will be hosting a dinner on Friday at 5 p.m. under the Parts Unlimited tent so be sure to stop over and catch up with the GNCC Racing family over a plate of food!
Moving ahead to Round 2 in Georgia, the landowner would like us to pass along that there are 30 camping hookups available for The General that will be available for purchase on a first-come-first-serve basis at the front gate. These spots will be $35 per night and include water, electric and sewer. If you’re interested, you may want to get there early and be sure to mention at the front gate that you’d like to purchase a spot. It’s important to note that the poles are set up to accommodate two RV's on each pole, but they can only be a 50- and 30-amp plug. You can't put two 50's on the same pole unless they have an adapter to convert down to a 30-amp plug.
Before I go, I wanted to give a big shout out to 2013 GNCC ATV Women’s Class champ Kylie Ahart and Bike Women Amateur Class champ Brittany Hesson for not only their great achievements in GNCC Racing but for being such good role models for young women everywhere. Both of these awesome ladies were recognized at the Ohio State House by Representative Andy Thompson for all the above and all of us here at GNCC Racing are proud to call them a part of our family.
That’s going to do it for me this week. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone this weekend!
@JaredBolton:
The long winter break is finally over and we’re now just a few days away from going GNCC Racing once again. We’re already full force here in Florida, as I’m actually writing my contribution this week from the Microtel in Palm Coast.
Out at the track, the course is coming together and despite what people are saying, it’s not a mudfest! In fact, as always, the nasty spots have been taken into consideration and the trail is worked around them. That can be said about any track. So keep that in mind instead of getting pulled in by rumors.
Last week I mentioned the Sandlapper National Enduro, and how it can play as a little bit of a teaser to the opening GNCC round. Well, as many expected, Charlie Mullins came away with the overall win. Jesse Groemm put in a solid ride aboard his new Maxxis/KLIM/DirtWise KTM to take second ahead of Steward Baylor. Stu put in a great ride to land on the podium and even did so after feeling like he didn’t ride to his full potential all day.
Russell Bobbitt was a contender early in the race but had a get-off that turned out to be a broken patella (kneecap). Russell went ahead and got surgery on it this week, so he’ll be out for a little while this season. I’d definitely like to wish him the best and a speedy (as possible) recovery!
Andrew Delong ended up taking home seventh place, encountering a few sections where he struggled. I actually talked to Andrew earlier in the week and looking back at some of his section scores he said he “had no clue what the heck he was doing” in a couple of sections. However, he’s gotten really comfortable on the new Husky FE350 and is feeling pretty confident in the bike coming into Mud Mucker.
Even though he’s not known as an enduro rider and will admit that the tighter trails aren’t his forte, Chris Bach made the trip to race the Sandlapper to get in some extra seat time aboard his new JCR Honda ride. Bach put together a good ride to come away with tenth, which is pretty darn good for a guy who was treating it as a practice day!
Another thing I mentioned last week was the Factory Husqvarna team getting everything ready to roll for the 2014 season. Well, work for them continued this week and they prepped another bike for this weekend’s GNCC opener. Mike Brown will be making the trek to Florida as well to try his hand at the Mud Mucker! It’s been a little while since we’ve seen Brownie at a GNCC but he came away with second place at River Ranch in 2011 after leading a good portion of the race, so keep an eye on him as well.
Wow, there’s a million more things I could talk about but we’re running short on time and it’s almost time to go racing. So if you’re reading this while driving, focus back on the road! I’ll cut myself short here and give everyone more time to get in those last minute preparations. We’ll see you this weekend! Until next time, Bolt-On out!
@HotRodney22:
Well the moment is almost here and as I rolled across the Florida state line this morning it began to rain. I thought, “oh boy” as visions of not only last season but the 2003 season, and the now-infamous Palatka GNCC. My feelings of uneasiness began to wane as I drove through the gate of the Mud Muckers ATV Park and I felt at home rain or shine. The grounds have a great heart here and regardless of what momma nature throws at us this weekend, it will all be good.
As I mentioned, I rolled in this morning after a day and a half late start (due to sick kids, then the snow and ice storms, and all the rage. It’s good to know the kids are well and GNCC in nearly upon us. I hate to admit it but I really don’t have much to add this week other than the fact that you are going to love the new venue and of course, be prepared for a historical season ahead!
The biggest bit of history for me will be the advancement of Chris Borich as the Most Winning GNCC Racer of All Time. Borich is poised to tie Barry Hawk this weekend and with a win in Florida could literally stand-alone after Georgia. Can it happen that quickly? We won’t know for sure until that time but we do know there is a load of confidence in the air this year and Borich will have to share at least for a while with Walker Fowler, Adam McGill and Chris Bithell as well as many more up and comers.
Also the addition of the 4x4 Pro class will be monumental and with recent discussions with a few of the boys there is a lot of excitement heading into the new season for the 10 a.m. Saturday ranks also. Bryan Buckhannon, who originally announced his retirement from 4x4 racing after last season, will be back according to reports and is more than amped to compete head-to-head against the entire field of competition that is equally excited.
One last thing before I go. I got a message from the “Great Scott” Plessinger and he asked me to pass the word along that Paradise Park in Macon, Georgia would be open for practice next week between Rounds 1 & 2. Scott said you could reach him at 513-266-2866 if you have any questions.
That’s it for now. Till next time God Bless Your Heart and All Your Vital Organs.
