AMSOIL GNCC Series Heads to South Carolina for Round 4
Borich Leads the XC1 ATV Division, Neal Tops XC2 Action
MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (April 16, 2013) – Four-Time GNCC champion Chris Borich heads into Round 4 of the 2013 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series with a perfect score atop the championship point standings. And perhaps his flawless record makes the target on his back even bigger as the fastest cross-country ATV racers in the country prepare to dethrone the champ this weekend at the VP Racing Fuels Big Buck GNCC in Union, South Carolina.
The most consistent runner-up to Borich thus far is AmPro Yamaha’s Walker Fowler, who currently holds second place in the overall standings. Fowler finished just shy of the podium at Round 3 and will be looking for redemption this weekend in South Carolina.
Maxxis-backed Suzuki rider Chris Bithell is coming off a stellar second place finish last round as an all-new aura of confidence surrounds the Pennsylvania native. Bithell has arguably led the most laps of the season but a little bit of bad luck has held him back from finishing atop the podium consistently so far this year.
Bithell currently holds the third place position but Lonestar/Precision/ITP’s Adam McGill isn’t far behind heading into Round 4 this weekend. Despite his mechanical issues at Round 2, McGill has landed two podium finishes to keep him in the overall championship hunt.
BNR’s Kevin Yoho has been one of the most consistent riders of the first three rounds, finishing just outside the top five overall each week. Coming off a spleen injury during the off-season, Yoho only continues to get stronger as the season progresses.
Yamaha/GBC/HMF’s Johnny Gallagher sits only four points behind Yoho for sixth overall, while Waynesburg Yamaha/GT Thunder’s Jeff Pickens trails Gallagher by just one point heading into Round 4.
XC2 Pro Am rookie Brycen Neal currently holds eighth place overall, while commanding the XC2 class standings. Neal edges out former XC2 standout Braden Henthorn in the overall points, while JB Offroad/Can-Am’s Jarrod McClure rounds out the top ten overall.
Defending XC2 Pro Am champion Patrick McGuire grabbed his first XC2 class win of the season last round, moving himself into contention for a second class-championship this season. However, XC2 rookie Landon Wolfe may have something to say about that as Wolfe currently holds two second-place finishes and an unlucky nineteenth place at the last round.
