DeRisi Racing Report - Unadilla

CASAR, NC ”“ Team DeRisi headed into Round 9 of the GNCC Series at Unadilla Valley Sports Center ready to battle.  Although the summer break gave the riders a chance to recoup, relax, and rebuild, everyone was anxious to hear the “10 seconds” call and take the green flag.  Carter Kerens started the day off right by taking the win in the 90 Open (8-11) class.  Carter put in a spectacular ride and led the race from start to finish.  He was able to secure 4th Overall in the Youth ATV race, which pushed him into 3rd in points with three races remaining.

Kylie Ahart blasted off the line to claim her first holeshot of the year in Womens Pro.  Kylie set a good pace early on by leading the first lap, but a slight mechanical problem caused her to lose time on lap two.  She was able to mount a charge later in the race and laid down some great laptimes, which helped secure a 5th place finish.  She now holds down 3rd in championship points.

When the flag dropped on the XC2 ProAm class, another DeRisi Honda rocketed to the front as Eric Hoyland grabbed another holeshot.  “Hurricane” Hoyland continued to lead early on, but would eventually be overtaken, and finished with another podium position in 3rd.  Braden Henthorn had a very challenging, but impressive race.  Braden was nearly dead last off of the XC2 start and began the vigorous task of picking off over twenty of his competitors.  He eventually passed his teammate, and also landed on the podium by earning 2nd.  Braden still holds on to 2nd in XC2 points, with Hoyland solidly in 3rd.

Brycen Neal once again earned the honor of Top Amateur by winning the College A class and placing 9th Overall.  Brycen moved into the lead just before the halfway point, and put the hammer down on his DeRisi Racing Honda.  This marks his sixth win of the season and secures his lead in College A points.  He needs to finish 3rd or better to secure the Championship at the next round.  James Reeves almost joined the DeRisi holeshot club, but was narrowly edged out off the start of the Junior A class.  James encountered some adversity on the first lap which dropped him deep in the field, but he battled back to finish in 8th.  He was able to salvage enough points to move into 3rd in Junior A standings.

“We wanted to come out swinging for these last 4 races to show everyone how much work and dedication we have put into our program” , said Santo DeRisi.  “I couldn’t be happier with everyone’s performance, and I’m looking forward to carrying this momentum into Round 10.  Thank you so much to the following companies for their loyalty and support; Rath Racing, Fox Shox, GBC Tires, IMS Products, HMF, HiPer Technology, Power Bar, GPR, Fasst Co, DC Cycle, Wiseco, RG Honda, Twin Air, Rekluse, Dirtworks, Tireballs, DP Brakes, G4 Graphics, PowerMadd, Motion Pro, Quad Tech, Antigravity Batteries, RPM, Outerwears, Bell Helmets, Spider Grips, Silkolene, Moose Racing, Scott Goggles and Liquid Performance.”Â
