GNCC returned from a two-month summer break Saturday at the historical Unadilla Valley Sports Center, where Chris Borich secured his ninth win of the season”†clinching his fourth consecutive championship in the process. Borich didn’t have it so easy, though. Adam McGill and Walker Fowler pressured the champ early on in the two-hour race and it wasn’t until McGill broke down on Lap 5 that Borich and Fowler took over the fight for the lead spot. It didn’t take long for Jarrod McClure to come into the picture, challenging the leaders throughout the second half of the race.

 

Coming into Round 10, the Borich camp had its championship sights set on simply finishing in front of Taylor Kiser, who was still within striking distance of the title before the race began. However, Kiser got off to a mid-pack start and wasn’t able to catch Borich and the rest of the lead-pack in time to make something happen. As Borich, Fowler and McClure battled for the top spots, Kiser rode on to take home a less-desirable fourth place finish at Unadilla, leaving the Ballance Racing Yamaha teammates to duel for second place in XC1 for the remaining three races.

 

Brian Wolf got off to a good start, grabbing the $250 Motosport.com Holeshot Award and Wolf continued to run with the lead pack for the early parts of the race. Wolf eventually dropped back to fifth, where he still put in a valiant ride to finish behind Kiser. Usual front-runner Chris Bithell broke an axel and wasn't able to finish more than three laps.

 

Patrick McGuire put in a solid ride to finish first in the XC2 Pro Am division, but it was Eric Hoyland who led early on after grabbing the Motosport.com Holeshot Award. Braden Henthorn got off to a bad start but made his way through the pack to finish with a respectable second place in the class. The championship battle continues to heat up in the Pro Am division with only three races remaining.
