Ballance Racing Yamaha Hits Home This Weekend at Inaugural Can-Am Mammoth GNCC in Kentucky

(April 25, 2012) ”“ After a devastating weekend for the Ballance Racing Yamaha ATV team at the last round of GNCC, the crew will regroup in their home state of Kentucky this weekend for round five of the 2012 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series. With a race-win and a few podium finishes already, the Ballance Racing team has high hopes of taking the inaugural win at the newly added Can-Am Mammoth GNCC at the scenic Park Mammoth Resort in Park City, Ky.

Kiser is the only rider to beat Borich so far this season

Although Taylor Kiser and Walker Fowler don’t actually come from the Bowling Green area, the Yamaha duo resides part-time in the area with 9-Time GNCC champ Bill Ballance and this race, more than most, will hit home to the entire crew as the series heads to Ballance’s backyard for the first time ever. But the pressure is more intense than ever before for the Yamaha team to rebound from two mechanical failures last round and perform in front of their hometown crowd.

It’s still Maxxis/Yoshimura’s Chris Borich that holds the top spot in the championship point standings, chalking three of the four wins this season. Kiser is the only other rider to best Borich so far, but Precision/Moto X Perts/ITP/Lonestar/RG Motorsports’ Adam McGill was able to interject a couple wins on the champ in 2011, and with a solid panel of seconds already this year, perhaps the McGill Mafia is due for a win. Keep in mind Motoworks/Cam-Am’s Chris Bithell and FRE/JG Offroad/American Honda’s Brian Wolf, who are also capable of taking home a win amongst this year’s stacked field of XC1 Pro ATV racers.

Can someone step up and beat the 3-Time champ at a new facility this weekend?

The XC2 Pro Am division boasts a full slate of competition already with four different winners in the first four rounds. Tireballs-backed Patrick McGuire, Waynesburg Yamaha’s Gabe Phillips and DeRisi Racing’s Braden Henthorn and Eric Hoyland all share the top honors, as they make up the top four in the championship point standings as well. Greg’s ATV & Cycle’s Matt Hanna isn’t far behind the foursome as he rounds out top five in the overall standings.

Spectator passes run $15 for the full weekend, with pro pit access and pro autographs at no additional charge. On Saturday, youth riders race at 8 a.m., amateur racers and the top utility and Women riders race at 10 a.m., and the top amateurs and the pros race at 1 p.m.
