The Mountain Ridge GNCC ATV Race Report

Somerset, Pennsylvania, May 16, 2009

William Yokley finished 131^st Overall and 16^th in the XC1 Pro Class today after experiencing some mechanical problems.  There were 200 total entries with 19 XC1 Pro Riders.  Team Rider Mark Notman finished 50^th Overall and 15^th in the 25 rider XC2 Pro Am Class.

Summary
The Mountain Ridge course is always very rocky making it pretty challenging.  It is a neat facility high up in the mountains.  The weather was great with lots of sunshine, but the track was pretty dusty in areas.  I got a pretty good start, passed a few riders and ended up in 4^th place on lap 1.  I battled with a few guys and was still running good in 7^th place going into lap 3.  I started having some overheating issues causing the motor to misfire, and started to drop back.  The bike finally quit running on lap 4 ending my day early.  We are not sure of the cause until we get home and check everything out.  My bike was running and handling well early on which makes me optimistic for the remaining races.

Mark Notman made a good start and was 6^th going into lap 2.  He started getting arm pump and had to slow down, hoping it would subside.  It bothered him all the way to the finish where he came in 15^th in the XC2 Pro Am class.

Our next race is in Millfield, OH in 3 weeks.  We will be ready, see you there!
