For immediate release:

October 26, 2008 ”“ Crawfordsville, IN ”“ Klotz Ironman GNCC

For the final time for the 2008 GNCC season, the GEICO Powersports Off Road team trekked out to the track.  This time to Crawfordsville, IN for the Klotz Ironman GNCC.  The team rolled in on Friday night, accompanied by cool temperatures, rain, wind and even a little hail which turned the track into one large mud bog.

Jennifer Albright was unable to attend the final round due to an injury incurred at the St. Clairsville round, two weeks ago.  Jennifer asked that we pass along this note:

Hello Everyone,

I first want to start by thanking you for your support not only this year but in years past; I could not be doing this without you and your support is greatly appreciated!!

I am writing to inform you that due to doctor’s orders I will not be able to attend the last round of GNCC
racing in Indiana. In the twelfth round (Power Line Park) I injured my right rotator cuff in an incident on the track during the race.

When I returned home I had an MRI done Monday and was able to get in with my Sports Orthopedic Doctor on Friday afternoon. The MRI confirmed two injuries within my shoulder including a partial tear and another questionable injury which the doctor is unsure of at this time.

The good news is my doctor does not want to rush me into surgery and the injury is not projected to be long-term but does require healing time now. He administered a cortisone shot into my rotator cuff and is having me begin therapy next week. After some therapy and a few weeks I will revisit the doctor and we will determine when I will be able to resume riding/racing. This is especially good news, meaning I will still be able to train and eventually ride over the winter months in preparation for the 2009 season kick off in March.

I am disappointed that I am unable to attend the last round of racing but I am looking to the future and a successful year in 2009.

Again - I thank you for your support and look forward to partnership in 2009.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Albright

The final green flag of the season flew Sunday afternoon, sending Josh and JT off into the woods.  Between the quad races on Saturday and the wind over night into the morning, the mud started to tack up, creating beautiful track conditions for the boys.  Although Josh’s start was a little rough, he quickly found his groove and settled in.  Making his way through the pack, Josh was up to 13th place when he tangled with another rider, bending his front rotor and ending his day.  Josh finished 14th in the XC1 Pro Class for the day.

JT Bennett was mid pack off the starting line.  Pre-race, JT’s suspension had locked up forcing him to make a quick change ”“ using the suspension from Mark Weiland’s 250.  Due to the quick change, JT found himself adjusting “clickers” in the first two laps, but once he had everything dialed in, he quickly started to make up ground.  JT ended up in 15th place in the XC2 Pro Lites class for the day.

The team would like to extend a special thanks to all of their sponsors: GEICO, MSR, MAXXIS, Lojak Yamaha, Rekluse, Gaerne, Factory Connection, SCOTT USA, Acerbis, HMF, Bel-Ray, and EBC Brakes.  We look forward to another successful season in 2009!

A huge thank you also goes out to our fans.  We hope to see you all again next year!

The GNCC banquet will be held on November 28 & 29 ”“ stay posted to our website or www.gnccracing.comfor more details.  The GNCC series will restart on February 28 in Florida.  See you all then!
