For immediate release.

October 11 & 12, 2008 ”“ St. Clairsville, OH - ITP Powerline Park GNCC

The GEICO Off-Road team headed to St. Clairsville, OH for round 12 of the Can Am GNCC series.  The team faced dry, dusty conditions in unseasonably warm weather - which was suiting for the 2nd annual GEICO Luau that was held on Saturday evening.  The luau turned out to be a huge success.  The team was able to accommodate over 450 people with great food and fun.   A special thanks to caterer Chef Glenn and his team for the fantastic food!

Team quad representative, Jennifer Albright, got to face the best the track had to offer, being one of the first races of the weekend.  Jen got a great start, almost grabbing the hole shot and heading into the woods in second place.  Throughout the race, Jennifer rode strong and stayed competitive and had a blast racing through the wooded terrain.  After a few laps, Jen found herself in a bit of a tangle with a tree which led her to lose a few places and finish the race in 5th place in the Women’s A class and 6th O/A.  This finish has Jennifer holding on to 4th place going into the final round, a mere 6 points behind 3rd place.  Keep posted for Jen’s take on the race.

The Sunday afternoon races got kicked off with GEICO’s own Sarah Mitchell doing an outstanding job singing the National Anthem.  JT Bennett was able to put in a couple of good laps in the front half of the race ”“ running in the top 20 overall, but started to feel the fatigue of being off for a few months due to his injury.  JT made the decision to back off the pace a bit to avoid another injury and be able to see the checkered flag at the end.  JT was able to pull off a 16th place class finish for the day.  JT commented that although he was slightly bummed out with his results, the overall weekend with the good racing and the awesome GEICO Luau dinner was a big success.

Josh McLevy ran into some mechanical issues on the first the lap ”“ slightly drowning his motor in the first mud hole, forcing him to pack it up for the day.  Josh was also bummed out about the problems he ran into, but to lighten the mood he commented on Sarah Mitchell’s amazing performance with the National Anthem and asked when she was going to go on tour.

The team would like to extend a special thanks to all of their sponsors: GEICO, MSR, MAXXIS, Lojak Yamaha, Rekluse, Gaerne, Factory Connection, SCOTT USA, Acerbis, HMF, Bel-Ray, and EBC Brakes.  And of course a huge thank you to our fans.

The GNCC series will continue on October 25th & 26th for the Klotz Ironman GNCC in Crawfordsville, IN.
