GNCC Rd 6 Race Report- Millfield, OH

Round number six of the Can Am GNCC Series headed to Millfield Ohio for the John Penton GNCC. Every year at Millfield you can expect crazy conditions; it's either extremely dusty or muddy!  This year was no different and the track was hit hard with rain leading up to the weekend's race events.  With 5 out of the first 6 rounds so far this season being mud races, the Cardiostack Team knew what it would take to prep their Pompton Suzuki LTR450's for battle.  The Teams Pit Crew worked great in getting riders quick replacement Fly Racing gloves when hands became slick with mud.  The team riders were especially glad to be wearing Scott Goggles, utilizing both tear-off and roll-off functions in the extreme conditions. At the end of the race the team's bikes had a lot less mud on them compared to other racers, thanks to the Rath Racing Netted Heel guards. The Rath heelguards utilize a mesh net instead of the typical aluminum construction, reducing the surface area for mud to gather and allowing the rider to keep their feet on the pegs.  With the race completed the team walked away with all riders completing the full race and some having their best rides of the season on board the new LTR450s.

Nick Mills had his best finish of the year with third in the College A class and an impressive twenty-first overall. “The track was great, I feel like I’ve got my Suzuki tuned in and my Fox shocks are dialed in. Everything is working great now. ” Nick said after the race.

Ty Seiverd ripped through the woods to capture his strongest finish, a third place in the Schoolboy class. "Ty has shown us all that his hard work is going to pay off this year,” said Jasen Bougher(team manager).

Phil Cole also had his best finish of the year with a thirteenth in the very competitive Junior A class. "My Green Ball Tires were hooking up in the mud all day, when others got stuck I pulled out of the ruts and passed them,” said Cole.

Matt Zeleski also had a strong finish with a seventh place in the Senior A class.

Brian Spencer suffered overheating issues that led to his clutch slipping. He managed to finish fifteenth in Vet B.

Jonathan Shaff finished in fourteenth in College A.

David Hunsucker was having a great race when he got hung in a bottleneck on a hill climb that ended his day. David finished twenty-fourth in 30+ C class.

“The Team had suffered some bad luck with Scott Wilson being injured in only round three. It looks like all that is turning around now for the team,” exclaimed Bougher.
