CHALLENGING DAY FOR FMF KTM’S JOSH TOTH AT THE MASON-DIXON GNCC

MT. MORRIS, Pa. – FMF KTM Factory Racing’s Josh Toth had a tough ending to the day after suffering a stinger to the leg on the opening lap of the Mason-Dixon GNCC. Gritting it out for the first two hours of racing, Toth ultimately made the tough decision to call it quits with one hour remaining in the eighth round of the 2022 AMA Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series.

Held in Mt. Morris, Pennsylvania, the Mason-Dixon GNCC course was dry and dusty from the beginning and Toth charged his KTM 350 XC-F into the top-three off the start. He put in a strong performance inside podium contention for the first couple laps before catching his foot and leg on a tree root, which caused him a lot of discomfort. He tried his best to push through the pain, but it was mounting, causing him to drop back to sixth, and later seventh, before making the call to end his day on lap four at the Matthews Farms facility.

Josh Toth:“Not a good day for me results-wise, but I got a good start and got into third within the first lap. I was right with the leaders and felt really good going into the start of the race. While in third on lap one, I caught a tree root with my right leg and it yanked my leg around back and pulled my groin really bad. I did the best I could and adrenaline just kind of helped me for a lap, and then I rode on my left leg for as long as I could until it was too sketchy. Unfortunately, I had to pull off. Hopefully it’s a short recovery.”

While reigning XC1 Open Pro Champion Ben Kelley is out on injury, he still holds the points lead after a dominant start to his season.

KTM-supported rider Brandy Richards secured her fourth-straight WXC podium of the season with a strong second-place finish in the class. Trail Jesters KTM Racing’s Korie Steede claimed the last spot on the podium in the class, and Mackenzie Tricker finished in fourth.
