Welcome to Quick Fill.
Well, this is it! The 2021 season finale is upon us and what better way to end a great season of racing than to do so at the Ironman. This event is always the biggest of the year as it seems like everyone comes out to race one more time and everyone from the town of Crawfordsville comes out to watch it all happen. This year is extra special because there’s still a couple of championships on the line including the tight battle between Ben Kelley and Steward Baylor for the GNCC National Championship. On top of that, both the WXC ATV and WXC bike championships have come down to the wire, so there’s a ton of epic race action to take place this weekend.
Now, don’t forget that we are racing an amended schedule this weekend and as a quick reminder this is how the weekend is going to work…
Saturday, October 23
8 am – ATV Youth Race
8:30 am – Bike Micro Race (separate track)
9:15 am – ATV Micro Race (separate track)
10 am – ATV Amateur Race
1 pm – ATV Pro Race
4 pm – Bike Youth Race
Sunday, October 24
8 am – Bike Amateur Race 1 (90 min)
10 am – Bike Amateur Race 2
1 pm – Bike Pro Race
This split bike amateur race on Sunday will help to cut down on some of the traffic we’ve seen in that gigantamongous morning bike race… Yes, I just made that word up. Anyway, we hope this helps to create a quality race experience for everyone involved. This helps the faster riders from lapping the slower riders so quickly and continue doing so through the whole race, while at the same time it helps those slower riders to keep moving along and not have to worry about letting the faster folks through.
As another reminder, there’s a number of other activities taking place throughout the weekend, such as…
Monster Energy Concert Series:
Friday, October 22:
8:00 pm - Temecula Road
Saturday, October 23:
7:30 pm - Davisson Brothers Band
9:30 pm - LOCASH
Trick-Or-Treating: Saturday @ 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
ePeeWee (STACYC) Racing: Saturday @ 6:30 p.m. at the finish line; trick-or-treat candy will be handed out at the STACYC race.
Halloween Costume Contest: Saturday @ 6:00 pm at Team Faith
STACYC Track: Open All Weekend. Must wear a helmet.
Need a hookup camping spot, fill up with propane, dump your holding tank or fill up with drinking water? The KOA Kampground located off Route 231 in Crawfordsville, Indiana has you covered. They also still have some full hookups with sewer and 30/50 amp electric for the weekend of Ironman GNCC. Call them at (765) 230-0965.
Since we’ve got a huge weekend coming up and know a lot of you are either already here or are on your way we’ll keep this week’s edition of Quick Fill on the quick side. We’re headed back out into the woods to get things finished up and ready to go. So with that said, enjoy the race weekend and we’ll see you out here at the Ironman!
