FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

RacerTV to Record Acceptance Speeches this Weekend
for the 2020 GNCC Virtual Awards Ceremonies

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (November 6, 2020) – This weekend at the AMSOIL Buckwheat 100, season finale of the 2020 Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Specialized, an AMA National Championship, RacerTV will be onsite to record rider acceptance speeches for the 2020 GNCC Virtual Awards Ceremonies scheduled for this December 12and 13.

Due to health concerns arising from the COVID crisis, series organizer Racer Productions cancelled the traditional season-ending awards banquets set for December 12th (ATV) and 13th (Bikes), which hosts well over 700 guests each night. In their stead, the first-ever online GNCC Virtual Awards Ceremonies was announced.

These are challenging times, but as a direct result of the Safe-to-Race Tool Kit issued by the Safe-to-Race Task Force, the GNCC Series was able to complete a full season under extreme conditions, largely as a result of the events being held outdoors. For this year, indoor banquets hosting 700+ guests are not prudent under the circumstances. We hope our racers and their families understand the situation, and that this decision was made with their best health interest in mind.

Racers placing in the 4th – 10th overall class positions are encouraged to stop by this weekend and give their acceptance speech. Class champions along with 2nd and 3rd place finishing positions will receive call-in details closer to the ceremony, as they will be featured live in the online ceremony. Even if you are not sure of your final finishing position, riders are encouraged to provide a recorded speech. Once final results are tabulated the video order will be established.

The virtual ceremonies will be conducted on the previously scheduled banquet dates of December 12th (ATV/eMTB) and 13th (Bikes) according to the schedule previously announced HERE.

Riders should take this opportunity to reflect on their season and thank their sponsors and families. For an example on how to give your acceptance speech, watch the following video from GNCC Event Director, Tim Cotter.

The recording studio (tent) will be located adjacent to Rider Registration on Vendor Row. The studio will be available on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until the end of day, then again on Sunday from 9 a.m. until end of the day.

If you are not attending the event this weekend or want to record your speech at a later time, you may submit your video to [email protected]. Videos should be no longer than 45 seconds and must be received no later than Friday, December 4. Be creative and use your imagination – and keep it kid-friendly!

More information on the virtual ceremonies can be found HERE. Attendance is FREE! Haha!
