Welcome to Quick Fill.

Summer break is on its final leg as we’re now just around 3 weeks away from returning to racing with the Black Sky GNCC in Harpursville, New York. This event was slated to happen in 2018 but torrential rains flooded the facility leading up to the event. At that point, the facility lacked usable roads to get in and out of the pit area, which is very dangerous in the event of an emergency. Therefore, this would force the cancellation of the event last season. This year we’re excited to return and the landowner, Rob Johnson, will be hard at work soon putting in several roads. We’ve also got our fingers crossed for dry weather, so we’ll hope that holds!

Right now we’re looking forward to this weekend as we’ve got a big event coming up with the season finale of Pro Motocross heading to Ironman Raceway. While Eli Tomac locked up the 450 class title last weekend, the 250 championship is still up for grabs and the 450 boys will be motivated to end the season on a high note. Some people may think it may not be quite as exciting due to that title being decided, but I believe it could be even more exciting. There will be a number of guys who will be hoping to topple the champ in the final round and show what they’re capable of as the season ends. Also exciting is the ATV Motocross National Championship will be decided on Friday as the Pro ATV guys will contest their final round. Don’t miss out because this will definitely be an action packed weekend of racing.

Also taking place in the coming weeks will be the 29th Annual DC Vet Homecoming at High Point Raceway taking place September 21-22. Once again, we’ll have the GP Moto-X Country on Saturday and Vet Motocross racing on Sunday (with some non-Vet support classes as well!). The GP event on Saturday will give you a little taste of what to expect out of the Mason-Dixon GNCC as part of that course will run on the High Point property the following weekend. This is always an extremely fun and laid back event, so don’t miss out! We’re still working to finish up all the exact details, so stay tuned to highpointmx.com.

As mentioned, once the DC Vet Homecoming ends, the GNCC Racing Nation will invade that area once again for the Mason-Dixon GNCC. Last year this proved to be a pretty cool event even though it got a little wet leading up to the weekend and made for some rough and rutted conditions. It turned out to be pretty darn good as the weekend wore on, and if the weather continues to do what it’s been doing then we could be in for a serious treat at the Mason-Dixon. This is a unique event as the racecourse uses the old Mathews Farm GNCC property, as well as High Point Raceway that hosted many GNCC events over the years. Combining these two old facilities into one large one is pretty neat, and crossing over the Pennsylvania/West Virginia state line on the racetrack is cool as well.

Following that event, our friends at Yamaha will once again host the Extreme Terrain Challenge at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. This is a super cool and very fun event. It’s not a race, but rather just a challenge against the terrain, just as the name says. It’s open to Yamaha UTV owners who have a YXZ or Wolverine side-by-side and this year they’re also opening it up to Grizzly ATV owners. The weekend is also full of demo rides, concerts, great food and just a general good time. So, if you own a YXZ, Wolverine or Grizzly and you’re looking for a fun weekend of riding and some great off-trail activities, check out the info HERE

Once that has wrapped up we’ll be heading to Beckley, West Virginia for the first-ever Mountaineer GNCC at the Summit Bechtel Reserve. We’ve talked about this several times this year since we were able to lock up the event and this promises to be a good one. The Summit Bechtel Reserve is a huge Boy Scout retreat that has hosted the National Scout Jamboree and even the World Scout Jamboree. That’s a pretty huge deal and it’s an honor for use to be able to come do some racing. To put in perspective how large the facility is, we typically use over 500 acres for a GNCC event and at the Summit Bechtel Reserve, we’re only going to be using less than five percent of their entire facility. It’s going to be tough as this is fairly rocky terrain, but it looks like it will be very fun terrain as well. This promises to be pretty cool, so don’t miss out!

That brings us all the way up to the finale of the 2019 season with the world-famous Ironman GNCC. This event needs no introduction and no explanation. It simply is the biggest and most exciting event of the GNCC season. There’s a good reason for that as the racecourse is a lot of fun and truly has something for everyone. So as you can see, we’ve got a lot on the schedule for the next couple of months. On top of this, our staff will also be hosting a couple of rounds of PAMX motocross at High Point Raceway, so there’s always something going on in our world, just like those of you who show up to race our events, and all the other great events that are offered across the country.

We’re pretty fortunate to have these opportunities. Folks talk all the time about losing places to ride and we’re also victims of that as well. However, it seems like each time one place goes away a new place comes up and while it may not always be an ideal scenario, we’re all pretty lucky to still have so many opportunities to get out and do some racing or riding. Well, that’s all for this week. We’re getting the ball rolling for Pro Motocross this weekend at Ironman, so we’ll wrap up this edition of Quick Fill here. If you’re at Ironman, feel free to say hi to any familiar faces as you’re sure to see a bunch of them, and if you’re on the fence about coming to the Pro Motocross at Ironman, get off the fence and get out here! It’s going to be a great weekend.
