JMR/ATVriders.com backed racer Jarrod McClure secured his best finish of the season this year returning to the podium at round ten of the Grand National Cross Country Series this past weekend at the Unadilla MX track in New Berlin, NY. McClure overcame super rough track conditions, and a shorter than normal racecourse to earn himself second overall for the day in the XC1 Pro class. McClure’s teammate Randy Hamilton finished fifth in the XC2 Pro Am class despite having a mid race collision with a tree bending his machine up.

Round ten of the GNCC series returned to Unadilla MX facility for the 12th running of the Unadilla GNCC. Known as the roughest tracks on the circuit due to short lap times, this year would prove to be no different as hundreds of racers pounded on the Unadilla soil the track began to fall apart just in time for the 1PM race.

As the green flag waved McClure sprung his Baldwin powered Honda into the top five going into the New York woods. Jarrod settled in that first lap and felt out the track but quickly moved himself up into second place and set his sights on trying to run down Walker Fowler who was leading.

I finally pulled a good start which is what I needed. I got with the lead group early and was able to focus on finding good lines and riding smooth. I got through the pack on lap two but I was shocked to see Fowler had gapped me by a minute already, “ said McClure.

DWT’s McClure charged hard trying to reel in Fowler but never could get him back in sight. McClure settled into his own pace still running strong and at the checkers had secured himself second overall for the day with a comfortable gap over third.

“Its near impossible to gain time on Walker at this track he is just so dialed in here. I do know this is the best I felt all year, my Elka and Teixeira-Tech suspension is working awesome and really helped me save energy out there today on this track. I was bummed after Snowshoe and really worked my but off this summer. I am pumped on the second overall and I look forward to Masontown in two weeks, “ said McClure.

JMR XC2 Pro Am racer Randy Hamilton got off to a good start in the XC2 Pro Am class running in third for the first portion of the race. Hamilton was battling for fourth with Cody Collier when a rear brake failure sent him of course and clipping a tree hard. The collision bent Hamilton’s frame and made the ATV hard to handle, but Randy pressed on and was still able to finish fifth in the class and earn himself some points for the day.
