Husqvarna Race Report: AMSOIL Ironman
Tuesday, November 3, 2015 | 4:35 PM
The final round of the GNCC took place at Ironman Raceway in Indiana this weekend. The weather was a perfect 65°F with rain the day before making for great race conditions. The course was made up of six 13 mile loops that were fast-paced with some wooded areas.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's Josh Strang started the race off with a fast paced battle moving through the top of the leading pack. Close behind Strang was Rockstar Energy athlete and Husqvarna rider, Ryan Sipes pushing him for the first place position. Throughout the entire second loop, Strang and Sipes went back and forth for the leading position. After both riders left the pit on the second loop, Strang jumped ahead, but continued to battle with Ryan Sipes. With only two loops left, Josh Strang opened his lead to 45 seconds and from that point on, he led the race and finished 1st with a 2 minute lead. Ryan Sipes finished in second.
"Today went well! It was nice to finish off the year with a win. The track was fun and I felt like I rode well. My bike and team has been awesome all year and I can’t wait to start testing my new 2016 Husqvarna and get ready for next year!" said an excited Josh Strang.
Josh Strang's win pushed him up to second place in overall points and Sipes finishes the season out in fifth! Due to a previously sustained injury, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing's, Andrew Delong, did not participate in this final round, but will return next season.
