Team UXC Race Report: Michael Swift On Top Again

Team UXC/Polaris Factory Racing’s #208 Michael Swift took the Pro 4x4 win this past weekend at round number 5 of the Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series. Swift also claimed the morning overall podium out of 225 racers.
Team UXC teammates #202 Kevin Trantham and Swift quickly worked their way to the front of the class just off the start in what was set to be a wet and slick day of racing. Swift took the lead around the 4-mile marker on lap one with Trantham close behind. On the start of lap two, Swift managed to create a small gap between him and his class, which he was able to build on each lap.
While rain had set in at the start of the race, the track conditions deteriorated every lap leaving the technical course more like a skating rink. Despite the conditions, Swift was able to hold his lead all the way to the checkered flag with 1 minute and 40 seconds to spare. Trantham finished a solid 5th place for Team UXC.
“I was able to take the lead early on the first lap. I lead the Pro class at a steady pace through lap one and continued to just ride smart due to the slick conditions. I knew the faster I went, the more likely I would make mistakes. A big thanks to Scott Goggles and Rox Speed FX. Their products helped keep my hands dry and my eyes clean,” stated Swift.
Team UXC’s #640 Don Higbee fought an epic battle as well in the 40 plus 4x4 class. Higbee swapped back and forth with the top four riders in his class throughout the race. He was running 2nd on the last lap where he made a pass just in time to take the Polaris Scrambler 850 to his first GNCC win and giving Team UXC/Factory Polaris another gold for the day.
“It was a battle all day in terrible conditions. The Polaris Scrambler was perfect with zero issues. The Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 tires were excellent. I was happy to be able to bring home this 1st place finish for Polaris and Team UXC,” commented Higbee.
The #815 of Graham Widdicombe finished a respectable 7th in the 4x4 A/B class, while Nic Snyckers ended up 10th in the 4x4 Novice class.
