Best In The Desert’s final round for 2104 “The Henderson 250” started in the early morning just before dawn with cool weather and foggy conditions. Team UXC’s Michael Swift and Don Higbee came into the final round with the Polaris Scrambler 1000 EPS just 1 point ahead of the 2nd place team contending for the BITD championship.
Swift left the starting line and battled back and forth with the competition through the foggy, early morning first lap. By lap 2, Swift had taken the class lead. The UXC #440 machine set a blazing pace and gained a 6 minute gap on the competition by the last lap when Swift handed it off to his teammate Don Higbee. “It was a great day, we have spent a lot of time racing out west this year and I have to say this 3 lap race was my favorite. The course was fast and offered a lot of terrain changes. The Polaris Scrambler 1000 EPS took everything that I could give it,” stated Swift.
Higbee did not waste any time on the final lap as he headed to the finish line. He was able to gain additional time over his opponents before the checkered flag. “We had to win today to secure the championship. We knew the competition would bring their “A” game and that they did. We went to work and never let off, consistently pushing the pace,” commented Higbee.
Team UXC has raced 9 desert races in 2014 for a total of 2,900 race miles between BITD and SCORE. The Polaris Scrambler 1000 EPS ran flawless all year. Team UXC is proud to hand over 3 championship trophies to Polaris Factory Racing for 2014.
Team UXC would like to thank Nic Snyckers for his help this weekend at the BITD race. We would also like to thank all of our team sponsors, especially Polaris Factory Racing for making this year possible. We look forward to announcing our 2015 plans within the next few weeks.
