Ruckle Race Report From The John Penton

Wednesday, June 11, 2014 | 9:50 AM

Hey Everyone Its Cody Ruckle with my race report from round 8 of the Wiseco John Penton GNCC in Millfield, Ohio. As we headed to the line Sunday afternoon, the track conditions were not all that bad. We had a brief shower to settle the dust and I felt good in my Fly gear, riding my YZ125 with my Kenda Washougal’s. I got a good start, second off the line and second into the woods. I then made my move into the first place position. The first two laps were great! I hit all the jumps on the motocross track and I was charging. By the end of the second lap, I was in 45th overall.

Then the rain struck again and the track conditions changed drastically! I have raced the Penton ever since I was on a 65 and I have never seen the track that slick. I had to back way off on my third lap and I lost several positions in the overall, but I still maintained my class lead. My dad stopped me for a fresh pair of Scott goggles and I kept moving trying to not get stuck or make any mistakes. By the fourth lap, conditions had improved somewhat and I was able to gain back another overall position. I ended my race with a first in 200 B and 52nd Overall.

This was not the overall finish I was hoping for. I am still trying to get into the 30's. I will be training hard and getting in a lot of seat time before Snowshoe. Now that I am out of school anyone who wants to come to WV and ride in the rocks can just let me know. This will be my first 3-hour race at Snowshoe and I know it will be tough.

I would like to thank God for keeping me safe, Mom and Dad.
