Round 5 of the 2014 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country Series presented by Maxxis, and sanctioned by AMA, showcased the third round of Micro 50cc racing over the weekend, taking place at the Lawrence County Recreational Facility in Springville, Ind. The weather conditions were almost perfect as the young racers took to the technical, but fun, Dunlop Limestone 100 racetrack on Saturday afternoon.

On the Micro ATV side, it was once again a two-man battle between the riders hailing from the great state of West Virginia. Morgantown’s Kaden Lambruno (DRR) secured his second consecutive win in the 50 Open Sr. (7-11) class, topping his biggest competitor Will Best (APX) of Charleston. While Best finished two laps down from the winner of Lambruno, he still gained valuable points in the championship standings. Lambruno now sits two points ahead of Best in the class standings.

Five riders competed in the 50 Open Jr. (4-6) class but it was Indiana’s very own Keegan Babich-Raab (DRR) who earned the victory on Saturday. Crown Point’s Babich-Raab not only topped the class, but the young rider also finished two minutes ahead of the Sr. Class winner on the adjusted time clock.

Wyatt Eubanks (DRR) came into the third round with a two-race winning streak behind him, but the Georgia native finished second this time around, which was good enough to hold the points lead after three rounds. Indiana’s Niko Graham (DRR) captured third in the (4-6) class, while Indianapolis native Waylon Witty (DRR) finished fourth, and Tennessee’s Barrett Childers rounded out the top five.

Childers holds second place in the championship standings, just seven points behind Eubanks. Witty sits in the third place position, with Babich-Raab in fourth overall.

On the bike side, it was a Pennsylvania sweep atop the overall podium, with a whopping 32 competitors taking part in the Micro bike race. Waynesboro’s Nathan Dulaney (COB) secured his second win of the season in the 50 Sr. (7-9) class, as well as the overall victory for the afternoon. Claysville’s Logan Carlisle (KTM), who finished second for the day, challenged Dulaney for the win, while Shippenville’s Ryan Alston (KTM) captured third overall in an exciting day of racing.
