Round One of the OMA Nationals took place this weekend near Memphis, Missouri, and our Motorcycle Superstore / Bell Helmet support riders were back at work, doing what they do best - grabbing podium finishes. Maxxis/KLIM/DirtWise/KTM Race team rider Jason Thomas scored an impressive second place finish and Airgroup/Husqvarna's Nick Fahringer finished a solid fifth in the Pro 1 class after battling with the leaders and then running out of gas and pushing his bike until he found some fuel relief.
Jason Thomas
Thomas was enthusiastic about his performance, saying, "The OMA's are my focus for 2014 and this was a good way to start off the Championship. I had a great time riding with Whibley and Baylor today - it was like being out roosting with a few mates during a fun practice session. On the last lap while leading I took the wrong line on a nasty uphill and got stuck which let both of those guys get past. Once I got going again I quickly caught and passed Stu, then caught Whibs but just ran out of time to make a pass stick on him. This is going to be an exciting Championship battle and I'm ready for it!"
Nick Fahringer
"The OMA season opener had perfect conditions with soft loamy hero dirt. I got a solid start and ran second while battling with Whibs and Thomas until I stopped early for fuel. I raced with Baylor to rejoin the pack until I ran my tank dry a mile before the white flag. I pushed the bike for a while until a spectator brought me some premix. I settled for 5th and look forward to redemption at Round 2 in Kentucky."
The next round of the OMA Nationals will take place May 3-4 in Greensburg, KY. for more details click Here.
