Team UXC Race Report from Steele Creek

Thursday, April 3, 2014 | 10:15 AM

Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) round number three was held in the beautiful state of North Carolina in the town of Morganton. However, the weather was not as beautiful as the landscape provided. Saturday delivered plenty of rain and the rain brought muddy conditions on and off the track. There was plenty of prep work in the Team UXC pits on Friday to prepare their quads for the conditions ahead.

As the rain came down, so did the green flag which signaled the start of the 4x4 Pro Class. Team UXC’s Michael Swift battled the elements and his competition in a shorter than usual race. Due to the extreme track conditions the race was shortened to only three laps or an hour and a half (which ever came first). Even with the harsh riding conditions, Swift was in contention for a podium position most of the race. Unfortunately, due to problems with lapped traffic, Swift slipped to 4th on the last lap of the race. Despite the muddy conditions, Swift put in a good solid race effort on his Polaris Scrambler 850 XP, claiming a fourth place overall finish out of 223 racers.

“I was pleased with my results, I gained more knowledge of my new Polaris Scrambler and am getting closer to my goal. The Scrambler ran perfect, the handling is phenomenal and the AWD was flawless. We will make a few changes and get ready for round four in two weeks. I want to thank all my sponsors that support our program,” stated Swift.

To say that Grand National Cross Country racers push themselves and their quads to the limits each and every race is an understatement. Team UXC/Factory Polaris Racer Michael Swift is no exception. Finishing 4th out of 223 racers in such extreme conditions is no easy task.

Other key highlights from this GNCC race include Team UXC sponsored rider, Josh Copeland, bringing home a second place podium finish in the 4x4 Novice Class. Tayton Swift, Michael’s son, also represented Team UXC with a fifth place finish in the 90cc 8-12 year old class.

Congratulations to Josh and Tayton. Team UXC Factory Polaris Racing wants to thank all of our sponsors for their continued support.
