Team UXC Race Report from Rd 2 of TORN

Round 2 of TORN (Texas Off Road Nationals) recently took place in Bridgeport, Texas. Overcast skies and mid 50 degree temperatures made for nice racing conditions. Team UXC Racing’s Chris Robinson boarded his Polaris Scrambler XP 1000 EPS. As the flagged dropped, Robinson’s machine rocketed off the line allowing him to grab the hole shot as his ma-chine pulled hard down the 60 yard start straight before making a 180 degree turn into another long straight away prior to hitting a field section.

“By the end of lap one I had a comfortable lead on the field and rode a smooth smart race for the next four laps to secure my second win of the season,” commented Robinson.

The track for round 2 was just less than five miles long. The first mile was made up of a field section with rolling hills of black loamy soil that tucked in and out of large live oaks, which became very rough and whoop out.

As the course neared the one mile marker it quickly changed to a tight rutted out woods s section mixed with some exposed tree roots, a few rocks, and a couple of elevations changes. Approaching mile three there was a nasty quarter mile long hard packed rock section, that reminded Robinson of the terrain in Baja, followed by a dry lake bed section before heading back into the woods for the last mile before the finish.

For round 2 Robinson bolted on a set of the new Rox Speed FX universal aluminum foot pegs with aluminum nerd bar (the wide stance with a kick up on the end to keep your boots in contact with the peg at all times.) Rox designed the pegs with some nice wide teeth to provide maximum traction even in the muddiest conditions.

The electronic power steering on the Scrambler allowed Robinson to navigate the tight woods with ease while keeping the bars steady through the rough whooped out sections.

“I am very pleased with the power and handling of my Polaris Scrambler 1000 and I am looking forward to another solid finish at round 3 in just a couple weeks,” stated Robinson.
