Maxxis Sweeps GNCC ATV Podium, Continues to Dominate Arenacross

As the racing season heated up this weekend, riders and drivers on Maxxis beat a path to the podium. Chris Borich, Chris Bithell and Walker Fowler swept the XC1 Pro ATV podium at the GNCC kick-off.

Wet, muddy conditions didn’t slow defending champion Borich, who took the holeshot, or Bithell, who grabbed the lead in the first lap. Borich, Bithell and Fowler traded the front position back and forth for most of the race, until a pass in the last lap gave Borich the win. Borich had additional reason to celebrate, as the victory gave him 68 overall wins, the most in the series’ history.

Maxxis’ riders were 1-2 in XC2 Pro Am, with Cole Richardson and Fred Marley taking the top spots. Rick Cecco took third place in the new 4x4 Pro class, while SICC Racing’s Todd Demaree won the Vet A class. Michael Swift was on track to deliver excellent results in 4x4 Pro as well, running in the top three for much of the day, but was sidelined by mechanical issues. Round 1 of the GNCC series was held March 8-9 in Bunnell, Florida.

The story was similar in the GNCC’s motorcycle races, with Maxxis/KLM/Dirtwise/KTM’s Rory Mead taking the victory and KR4 Performance’s Shane Hufford grabbing the holeshot and third place in XC2 Pro Lites. Mead’s teammate Shane Watts won the morning overall and the Sportsman A class, while Mandi Mastin was second in the WXC class. Maxxis riders Craig Delong, Austin Lee and Michael Witkowski swept the 250 A podium, with Delong also winning top amateur.

Corry Weller crossed the finish line first for Maxxis in Arizona, winning the SR1 class at a Lucas Oil Regional Off Road race. Rounds 2 and 3 of the Arizona series were held March 8-9 in Chandler, Arizona.

Babbitt's Monster Energy/AMSOIL Kawasaki presented by Maxxis had another great weekend in the Arenacross series, with Tyler Bowers, going 2-1 and 1-2 in the mains Friday and Saturday to win the overall both nights. Zach Ames retains his points lead in the Race for the Championship by a three-point margin, with Bowers in second place and team member Colt Nichols fifth.

Andrew Matusek took his second MX win of the year with a victory in the 25+ class of the Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross, held March 10 in Daytona, Florida.

Maxxis congratulates Chris Borich, Cole Richardson, Rory Mead, Shane Watts, Craig Delong and Tyler Bowers on their victories and thanks all of its riders for their fine performances.
