This past weekend marked the start of the 2014 GNCC series in Bunnell, FL. After a long, cold winter everyone was ready to shake off the snow and get down to Florida and kick the season off!

Ricky made the offseason decision to drop down into the XC2 class. This decision has already proved to be a very beneficial one. Ricky had a great start falling in line with the top 3 in the XC2 class. Ricky made is way up to the lead point and stayed there for the first half of the race. After pitting he fell back to third but managed fight his way back to 2nd place where he would end the day with his first podium finish of 2014!

Jed’s day started out very similar to Ricky’s with a great start. Jed went into the woods in 5th on pace with the lead group. Unfortunately while going thru a long field section, Jed hit a large ditch sending him over the bars. As a result of the crash Jed’s radiator hose was snagged loose from the radiator. Jed tried to shake the wreck off and continue but ultimately had to call it a day finishing outside the top 20. Haines noted that he is really looking forward to putting this race behind him and he is ready to put in a much better result at Georgia this upcoming weekend.

The amateur team riders had a very successful showing overall at the first round of the season. Matthew Nix put in a solid ride in the ultra-competitive 250A class and came home with a 5th place finish. Cody Ruckle led the 200B class for most of the day and would end up with a 2nd place finish. Brody Johnson had a great day in the 85 (7-11) classes where he grabbed the early lead and didn’t look back!

The next stop on the schedule takes place this upcoming weekend at Aiona Pass MX Park in Washington, GA.
