The final round of the 2103 GNCC series took place this weekend in Crawfordsville, Indiana and two of Motorcycle Superstore's top riders, Andrew DeLong and Kacy Martinez, took home first place trophies.
It started early Sunday morning when RPM/KTM's Martinez overalled the Morning race beating out over 700 competitors and taking the Women's class win in the process. Factory KTM and Motorcycle Superstore support rider Maria Forsberg finished right behind Kacy. This was Kacy's second overall win on the season and she was excited to end the season on a high note.
"The track layout was awesome and the conditions couldn't have been any better! Maria and I had an awesome battle the whole race and swapped positions a couple times on the last lap! I was so happy to get the win and win the last race of the year. I can't wait for next season."
Coming into the last round of the series, DeLong was mathematically out of the running for the championship as he missed a few rounds earlier in the year due to injury, but since his return at Round 10, DeLong has dominated the XC2 Pro Lites class and the Ironman was no exception.
"Race day conditions were perfect. I really liked the course and knowing this was going to be my last XC2 race, I wanted to go out on top," explained DeLong, who moves up to the XC1 Pro Class in 2014. "I would like to thank Fred and the FAR Husqvarna team for making this year possible. If I didn't have the hand injury halfway through the season, I think we would have had a great shot at the championship."
The 2014 GNCC race schedule has already been announced; the 13 round series kicks off March 8 & 9 and runs through the last weekend in October. For more information go to www.gnccracing.com.
