Team UXC Racing Swift and Higbee to Compete Solo in Baja 1000

Hot off the press comes the news that many have anticipated for the entire year at Team UXC racing. The mighty Baja 1000 is coming up in the middle of November and for two of our racers out of the UXC racing stable tackling the beast alone is the plan!!! That’s right class 26, the Pro Utility ATV class, will have two Team UXC racers, Michael Swift and Don Higbee both competing against the elements and rugged terrain south of the border that has been known to shred its competition.
“We plan to head south of the border early for a little pre-run and then it is on to ready ourselves for the biggest race of our career. Many do not understand the mystic Baja and the race fever that surrounds it. For many years now the Baja peninsula has been the host of what some call the toughest off road race on the North American continent. This will be the 46th annual event and it is the loop course that starts in Ensenada and returns there some 40 hours later. That is if everything goes as planned!” explained Swift.
Both Michael Swift and his team mate Don Higbee will be competing on their individual race prepped 2013 Can-Am Outlander 1000XT machines but the preparation for this race take an even more serious turn for the machines. Swift added “Our machines are the best in this industry. The Can-Am Outlander 1000XT has took us both to many victories and we feel this machine is what we need to be successful in the long desert run of Baja.” The numbers have been chosen for the teammates and Swifts Can-Am Outlander will wear 207A while the big yellow rig of Don Higbee will be 222A. These machines can be followed on the SPOT tracking website as SPOT is the event tracking company for 2013.
Although there were no preliminary stats on the course the length has been announced at 922 miles for this race. To Solo this race it means that the sole entry will ride their ATV for the entire race and finish under their own power. To do this many months of planning and physical training goes into the program as well. Taking in consideration the sheer luck and preparation it takes this duo of cross country racers will literally be racing across a country! Getting to Baja and home is something that is not done alone as it takes many proven products and people to make this happen. Getting on board for not only the GNCC season but for this legendary race several core sponsors are stepping in big to help the effort. “I want to make sure the fans of Team UXC racing know as well as the people who are helping us that this could not be done without them.” Says Swift. “People like Evans Coolant products, Maxxis tires, ROX components, Custom Axis shocks, Hiper wheels, Leatt nech brace’s, FLY Racing gear, PIAA lights for the dark times, Ricochet skids for the knarly Baja rocks, DP brakes, SSI decals, Dirtwork’s Motorsports, America's Motorsports and Driven Power Sports from Casper Wyoming. A few more very important sponsors for the big race are WPS, Tucker Rocky and KLIM. These people have gone above and beyond the call for help and we couldn’t go without them.” Explained Swift.
So there you have it, the cat is out of the bag and we are excited to head south of the border in just a month or so to set our sights on the finish of the 46th annual Score-International Baja 1000. Keep up with the action on Score-International.com and we will fill you in on every detail when we return! Please feel free to share this with your readers and friends.
