Josh Strang took an XC1 Pro class podium spot with a third-place finish at Round 7 of the GNCC motorcycle series, the John Penton. Nick Davis claimed an XC2 Pro Lites podium spot for Maxxis at the race, held June 2 in Millfield, Ohio.

Strang turned in a strong performance, earning third place with a push late in the race. “I felt like I rode the best I had all year. We go the bike all sorted out,” he said. “It rained Saturday night, and it was hot and humid, but the track dried out pretty good. Some parts were perfect and tacky, other parts were so slippery you wouldn’t have been able to stand up. It was a lot of varying conditions. The SI’s were awesome again, and everything worked good.” Other Maxxis-sponsored riders also made the top ten: Chris Bach took fifth place, Adam Bonneur was eighth and Ricky Russell was tenth. Bach and Strang are fourth and fifth in XC1 standings, while Bonneur and Russell are ninth and tenth.

Maxxis’ sponsored rider Jason Thomas took an early lead in XC2, before a mishap forced him out of the race in the fourth lap. FAR Husqvarna’s Davis made steady progress after a start in tenth place, earning his best finish of the season with the second spot on the podium. Thomas and Andrew Delong, who did not compete in Round 7 due to a prior injury, are second and third in XC2 points.

Maxxis congratulates all of these fine riders on their outstanding performances.
