Team UXC Racing Report - Limestone 100

Heading north up the country to the great state of Indiana Team UXC racing was prepared for anything Mother Nature or the track could throw at them. Lawrence county recreational park in Springville Indiana would be the host of this weekends event and with a few rain showers on Friday the stage was set for a great race.

Starting on a split row Team UXC’s U2 Renegade driven by Michael Swift was in the second half of the powerful 4X4 machines to leave the starting line. Dropping in behind the first rider to head into the woods Michael would begin strategizing his moves to get around and then make some ground between him and the rest of his class. “We headed over a downhill section that was really slick and my right front wheel caught a tree. This was the beginning of several issues we had to overcome as I was passed by another rider and pushed back into third place.” Stated Swift.

Michael would push on in spite of his power steering failing and the entire front end being severely out of alignment. Swift also noted he was on a mission to get back up front. “I was determined I was going to just get used to the way my steering was and catch the riders in front of me. This race was tough not only on my mind but it beat my body up also. If it was not for the great conditioning from Marc Spataro at MotoPro Training it could have been much worse.”

Swift would go on in spite of the challenging terrain and machine issues to win the U2 class and only missed the podium by 18 seconds. Team UXC’s U2 Can-Am Renegade Xxc would also be the second place utility for the morning and place fourth overall for the entire field! “We have a lot of work to do before the next round but I am looking forward to continuing our run for the front!”

Team UXC’s Don Higbee piloted his number 640 Can-Am Renegade to a fine finish as well. Despite loosing his power steering early in the race Don was able to hold on for a fifth place finish in the 4X4 Senior class. The track was slick and muscling the machine took its toll before the final lap. “Overall our machine has been performing very well and the problems we do face we will overcome. It is just a matter of seat time combined with trial and error. The one thing we have to keep in mind in races like this is just to keep moving if possible and everything else will work itself out” Says Don. Carl Vella would also make a valiant effort in the 4X4 senior class before succumbing to the conditions.

Tayton Swift’s Can-Am DS90X in the 90 limited 8-12 year old racers managed to hold on for a 7th place finish. Tayton has remained consistent in light of his past mechanical issues and continues to keep his head up and press forward.

Our next event will be round seven of the GNCC series. The famous Wiseco John Penton in Millfield Ohio is always a great race. This will also be our next UTV race where Team UXC racing will put the Can-Am Maverick back on the track for another shot at the big trophy.
