Brad Bakken and Rachel Gutish made their way down to Texas for the third round of the National Enduro series this past Sunday. Brad entered round 3 hoping to score valuable championship points at a track that doesn’t normally cater to traditional Enduro track conditions. At the end of the day he was able to secure a top 10 by finishing 9th overall.
Brad Bakken – “I actually felt pretty good out there today and never had any bike issues. I was also able to avoid any crashes and I enjoyed the track more than any other west coast round! My finish wasn’t the best with a 9th, but considering my best race finish here is a 12th, I’m pretty happy!”
In the Women’s class, Rachel lined up against some of the best off road females in the country! At the end of the day Rachel put in a stellar performance by winning the women’s class on the day!
Rachel Gutish – “So the race today went pretty well, a lot better than I had expected, actually. I had never raced in Texas before, but got pretty much what I had been expecting - rocky, dry, dusty, and desolate. However, I had enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. There was a nice balance between the technical, rocky sections up in the hills, and the fast, flowing sections in the lowlands. Additionally, the view from the transfer sections was amazing! The dust was pretty severe in the first couple sections though; section one was particularly sketchy. I ended up winning three of the four tests, which carried me to a first place finish in the women's class. On top of that, the club gave out an award for the fastest short course rider, which I won. I am very excited about getting my first National Enduro win on a Yamaha, and would also like to thank all of my sponsors for their support!”
Points after round 3
