Maxxis rider Andrew Delong earned his second XC2 Pro Lites win in as many rounds at the Maxxis General GNCC on Sunday. His performance at Round 2, held March 17 in Washington, Georgia, further solidified the championship points lead he earned at Round 1 in Florida.
The FAR Husqvarna rider said “My [Maxxcross] SI tires worked great, front and rear. On the hardpack, they were hooking up. It was a little sketchy, like bluegroove in spots, but we made it through that. In the woods, it was just all traction, even over all the roots and stuff. Just overall, the whole day was awesome." Delong’s finish was good enough to claim seventh overall on the day.
In the XC1 Pro class, Maxxis riders Josh Strang and Chris Bach battled together all day and finished fourth and fifth respectively. Strang is currently third in points, and Bach is sixth.
Jason Thomas, the XC2 Pro Lites defending champion, had a hard crash mid-race but was able to salvage fifth in the class for valuable championship points. In the morning race, RPM Racing Team’s Kacy Martinez finished second in the Women’s class. “The race was really good; I had a lot of fun,” she said. “The track was great. It had a lot of clay, and it wasn't too dusty. Maria and I went back and forth a couple of times, and I was happy to be able to come out second."
Maxxis congratulates Andrew Delong on his victory and thanks all its riders for choosing the brand of champions.
