Team WMR KTM/Nihilo Concepts Race Report - Powerline Park

Stuart, Fla. - Another great weekend for Team WMR KTM/Nihilo Concepts! With both riders on new 2013 KTM's; Team WMR/Nihilo Concepts XC1 rider Rory Mead continues his top 5 consistency finishing 5th, while Chris Douglas impressed in his new class at the Powerline GNCC in St. Clairsville, OH.
 Â
Rory Mead had a mid-pack start in the XC1 pro class but got closed off by the super competitive field. He worked his way up towards the front and for the first 3 laps he was in the top 5 pack who were all within 5 seconds of each other. Towards the end of the race, fellow Kiwi Paul Whibley fell allowing Rory to tag along and follow Whibley matching his pace. But unaware to both of them, Thad Duvall was charging hard to catch Mead. On the last lap Duvall made the pass on Mead while Whibley extended his gap. Putting Mead in 5th at the end.

"This weekend was the 2nd weekend on the new 2013 KTM 350XCF, we have been working on some improvements on the new bike including a new FMF full system that really made the bike much better for Rory. We are happy with the results as this is a step in the right direction towards next year." said team WMR Off-Road manager George Pollard.

Rory still sits in 3rd in overall points with 19 points between him and Duvall in 4th.

Other big news was Team WMR/Nihilo Concepts Off-Road rider Chris Douglas moving up from Open A class to compete in the XC2 pro class in preparation for next year. He finished 7th and 13th overall tying his best overall finish on his brand new mostly stock 2013 KTM 250SXF.

"I got a really good start and ran 4th for most of the first lap, right with the leaders. Then they started to pick up the pace at the end of lap one and my forearms grew like Popeye's. I had to let some people go by, then fell into my own pace and ended up 7th and tied my best overall finish ever with a 13th. I think it was a great way to start the XC2 career." stated Douglas

Team WMR KTM/Nihilo Concepts Off-Road will be attending the next National Enduro in Indiana next weekend to allow some more seat time and testing for Rory and Chis on their new 2013 KTM's. Then they will compete at the next GNCC October 21st at the Ironman in Crawfordsville, IN. Rory will continue his consistency to clinch WMR's top overall finishing position in 3rd while Chris will work on adapting to his new bike and class.
