Anaheim, Calif.  ”“ After a break of more than two months, GBC Motorsports athletes descended on the Unadilla Valley Sports Center in New Berlin, NY for Round 10 of the Grand National Cross Country Series. Just as in previous rounds, GBC riders compiled an impressive tally of class wins and top finishes on the way to securing several class championships.

Bryan Buckhannon has proven to be one of the most dominant riders in 2012, and with his 8th class win in 10 races he clinched the 4x4 Open Championship. To add to his already fruitful day he rode his Dirt Devil equipped Can-Am to the top spot in the Utility Overall and 3rd place in the Morning Overall out of more than 270 riders.

Forrest Whorton apparently didn’t want Buckhannon to celebrate his championship alone, as he went out and grabbed his 9th win in the 4x4 Senior class, cementing the class championship for himself as well.

Rob Smith has been a man on a mission this season, dedicated to bettering himself physically and mentally in an effort to chase down the defending U2 class champion. “Mr. Smith” , as fans know him, overcame a last place start and put in an inspired ride to place 2nd in U2 and an impressive 3rd Utility Overall.

Kevin Yoho has been turning heads in the premier XC1 division all season, and this weekend was no different. The working man of GNCC is proving week in and week out that he can bang bars with the established superstars. Taking time out of his schedule as an excavator operator, Yoho put up another solid 6th place finish he jumped up even higher in the Overall rankings into 7th place on the season. Following Kevin home in 8th place on the day was veteran XC1 rider Johnny Gallagher.

DeRisi Racing’s Eric Hoyland put in a great ride to secure a position on the XC2 podium with a 3rd place finish, holding onto 3rd in the XC2 season standings as well.

The talk of the day surrounded the unbelievable ride put in by DeRisi Racing’s Brycen Neal taking not only the College A class win and Amateur Overall, but finishing an astounding 9th Overall against the premier ATV racers in the world. “I had an awesome day out there,” Neal said after the race. “My DeRisi Racing prepped machine handled amazing and my GBC X-Rex tires stuck to the track like glue all day long.”Â

Brody Livengood showed he is ready to enter the fight in the highly competitive College A class, running up with the leaders for much of the day and finishing up in 4th.  Jay Shadron put the wraps on the College B class title by grabbing win number 8 on the season, besting fellow GBC rider Kevin McKeown who ended up 3rd on the day. AJ Koontz took another step in his quest for the Junior A class championship by earning a 2nd place finish.

The GNCC continues the second leg of the 2012 season with a stop in St. Clairsville, OH at Power Line Park on October 6-7. Get the latest GBC racing news on our Facebook and Twitter pages, and learn more about GBC tires at www.gbcmotorsports.com.
