Ballance Racing/Yamaha Race Report - Unadilla

Oakland, KY - The Ballance Racing/Yamaha Team resumed GNCC racing action this past weekend at the historic Unadilla Valley Motorsports Park. Round 10 of the series followed a much needed two month summer break, but it was clear that racers and fans were ready to get back to racing. Teammates Taylor Kiser and Walker Fowler inspected the course Friday evening and knew it would be an interesting event. The short 8.5 mile course included much elevation change, rocks, mud, and sections from both the U1 and U2 motocross tracks that was all bound to get chewed up and rough!

Ballance Racing/Yamaha's #3 Taylor Kiser got off to a tough start on the day just outside the top 5 early. " I got a good jump, the first 2 corners were just really tight and you had to have a wheel over the guy next to you. Lost the pushing and shoving match." Taylor moved inside the top 5 after lap 1 and would continue to chase the front runners. The race would run a long 7 laps which proved to take its toll on the riders. " I felt great all day and the YFZ450X performed awesome, I just struggled to find my rhythm early and lost too much time the first few laps. With the amount of lappers on the track it was tough to gain any time and very easy to loose it. In all I'm satisfied with the weekend and looking forward to round 11." Taylor finished the weekend in 4th.

Ballance Racing/Yamaha's #5 Walker Fowler entered the summer break with three 3rd place podium finishes and was looking to continue his consistent ways the remainder of the season. Fowler also got off to a less than desirable start, just inside the top 10. " Those first two corners were just really hard to judge and I guess I picked a poor start spot. I really pushed the first 2 laps cause I knew Borich and McGill would be pushing hard up front and if I wasted any time I would never be a factor." Fowler made quick work and moved himself into 3rd before the halfway point and engaged in a four way battle between himself, Borich, McGill, and McClure. Fowler inherited 2nd when McGill broke but was never able to overtake the #1 of Chris Borich. " I burned up a lot of energy too early and just didn't have that last lap explosion that Borich had. I will take these next 3 weeks and work hard again and just build on this 4th straight podium finish." Fowler ended the day an impressive 2nd overall.

GNCC racing continues on October 6th in St. Clairesville, OH at the Powerline Park GNCC, round 11 of the 13 race series. Please stop by and meet the pros, we'll see you there!
