Race Report
2009 Steele Creek GNCC
The Off-Camber, Pro-Moto Billet/Fastway Performance, Klim Gear, Rekluse Clutch, Yamaha Race Team headed for Morganton, North Carolina and the Steele Creek GNCC. The race turned into one of the most brutal races the team has ever encountered. There were many hard get-offs and more than one racer left with an injured wrist from the hard hitting g-outs.
Randy Mastin and Amanda Mastin raced in the morning event. Randy finished 8th in the Masters A class and 47th Overall. Randy is currently holding 2nd in the Overall Standings, even after having a slow start to the year. Amanda finally took her 1st win in the Women's class and ended 80th Overall. Amanda took the holeshot on her Vee Rubber Performance Tires and won the $100 Ohlins holeshot award for her efforts. Once again fellow Pro Moto Billet lady rider Ashley Crouch kept Amanda honest the whole race, pushing her to the end and taking 2nd in the class. Amanda is currently 1st in the Overall Points Standings, one point ahead of Ashley.
Morgan Moss lined up in the 250 B Class and finished 1st, currently undefeated for the year and holding 1st Overall in the points. Morgan rode tough all weekend, even though he is still nursing injured ribs from the Georgia GNCC. Morgan commented that this was one of the hardest and most physically demanding races he has ever done. Morgan stated that the whoops at this race were big and deeper than the whoops at the Florida Round, now that is bad.
Our English rider Rudy Austin raced the Vet B Class and was very happy to finish 3rd in his class and 105th Overall. Rudy is currently 1st Overall for the year and pushing for his first GNCC title. Rudy is pleased with this since he has been fighting bike issues all year and hopes to start winning consistently, once we get the bike dialed in.
Duane Conner rode the Vet A class and challenged for the lead all day, before hitting a deep hole at speed and re-injured an old wrist problem. Duane was unable to finish the last lap and called it a day. Duane finished 15th in his class and 130th Overall. Even after his slow start Duane is currently holding 7th in the Overall Points Standings and has one win under his belt for the year. Duane should be fine with some rest and is looking forward to the South Carolina GNCC.
Fellow Pro Moto Billet rider Derek Spangler also took a big hit on his wrist this weekend and was in a soft cast last time we seen him. The whole team wishes Spanky a quick recovery and hopes to see him at the races again soon.
Randy, Mandi and Morgan and Team Manager David are all headed to Louisiana for some fun riding at the Myrtles Plantation and for the Cajun Classic National Enduro this weekend
