Shock Doctor/KTM General GNCC Race Report

GNCC Bike Series - Round 2 Washington, GA
Shock Doctor/KTM Factory rider Kailub Russell won his second consecutive XC-2 GNCC race at the second round of the series.
Russell came around in 2nd place off the start with his teammate Cory Buttrick in tow. Russell quickly took over the lead and proceeded to lead every lap of the race crossing the finish line well ahead of his competitors. Buttrick moved his way up from his 3rd place start to finish behind Russell in 2nd place putting both KTM factory riders on the podium.
In the XC-1 class Shock Doctor/KTM Factory riders Kurt Caselli and Nate Kanney finished 6th and 5th respectively. Caselli started off 2nd around the first turn but had some troubles mid-way through the race with arm pump which set him back outside the top ten. After an early pit stop he was able to recover and came back charging through the pack to climb back into the top ten to finish 6th overall. Kanney, still suffering from a pre-season back injury, started 4th and rode a strong and steady race to salvage points. "I am happy to still finish in the top five but I need to make improvements in my riding which will be my main focus between now and the third round," commented Kanney.
Just for fun, Shock Doctor/KTM Factory National Enduro rider, Russell Bobbitt, came out to the Georgia round just three days after finishing 2nd at the third round of the AMA National Enduro Series in Daytona Beach, FL. "This race is close to my hometown so I like to come out and see how I do each year. This track was pretty rough but I had a good time," stated Bobbitt who finished 8th for the day. Placing one spot ahead of Bobbitt was Mexico's KTM/Red Bull Factory rider Homero Diaz. This was the second GNCC attempt for Diaz whose results are steadily improving based on his 7th place finish. "I am not accustomed to riding in such tight wood sections but it is a challenge that helps me become a better rider. I had a lot of fun racing in the states," remarked Diaz.
