Gets Back to Winning Form in front of Home Crowd

SNOWSHOE, W. Va. (Sept. 13, 2008) -- Adam McGill admitted he used the summer break from the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series to get back into the game. Into the game he got Saturday as McGill, who lives just west of Clarksburg, W. Va., won Saturday's Pro ATV portion of the Moose Racing Snowshoe GNCC. The race marked the beginning of the fall swing for America's largest off-road racing series.

McGill (No. 5 KTM) traded the lead twice with Chris Borich (No. 2 Team Rockstar/Suzuki) and just held off eight-time GNCC Champion Bill Ballance (No. 1 Yamaha) at the end to notch the victory, his fourth this season. Jarrod McClure (No. 14 ATVRiders.com/Honda) finished third, marking his second podium of the season.

McGill now has the most victories of any single Pro rider on the tour. The victory was also McGill's first since late April.

"It was a phenomenal thing to run up front and to get a win at home," said McGill. "We had some bad luck the whole way, but the team always stayed behind me. They kept their heads down and worked hard."

Ballance, who was still suffering the after effects of a two broken ribs sustained last week while practicing for this race, was right on McGill's rear bumper throughout the final lap around the 14-mile course.

"I have a huge amount of respect for Bill, both on a professional and personal level," said McGill. "It was a little scary seeing him behind me at the end, but I just put the pedal to the metal on this KTM and I had the bike I needed at the end.

"The crew really did a great job putting this bike together," concluded McGill.

Ballance retains the points lead going into the next race, scheduled for Sept. 27 in New Berlin, N.Y.
