Westley Wolfe had a successful weekend this past Saturday, May 28, at The John Penton GNCC held at the popular Sunday Creek Raceway in Millfield, Ohio. After a hot and humid two-hour race Wolfe would land a spot on the XC2 Pro-Am division where he finished second and eighth overall.

Once the green flag waved Wolfe would find himself charging hard through the pack after an unfavorable jump off the start and upon entering the woods he would face more issues where he would be stuck in a mud hole. This misfortune would allow the entire field to pass Wolfe, but once he was back on track Wolfe was able to quickly repass majority of his competitors on the first lap where he checked through timing and scoring on the first time sitting in sixth. By the second lap Wolfe would make his way into second place where he would slowly start gaining on the leader. “This weekend was somewhat disappointing,” said Wolfe. “I know I have the speed to take the win, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to make up enough time before the end of the race. My plan is to keep training hard and return to the center of the box in New York.”

Wolfe’s podium finish vaulted him into second place in the points championship, where he now sits 25 points behind the leader. The GNCC series continues next Saturday, June 11, with the Tomahawk GNCC in Odessa, New York.
