FIM ISDE Day One: 2015 ISDE is a GO!

Monday, September 7, 2015 | 10:30 AM

Monday morning - Bright sunshine and clear blue skies were present over the modern commercial centre car parking area where the parc-ferme is located. On a normal weekday this is more usually reserved for shoppers and cinemagoers, however this morning the large tarmac area was full of almost five hundred motorcycles and much anticipation as the 2015 FIM International Six Days Enduro (ISDE) got underway.

From the parc-ferme the first riders then headed away from the city of Kosice and up into the surrounding hills where today’s three special tests can be found, each being ridden twice over the two laps that also includes four time checks on each occasion. By the time the riders from thirty-one nations roll back into the urban area later today they will have completed just short of three hundred Kilometres on the first day of six in this almost week long historic competition.

By being reigning champions France’s World Trophy team start the 90th edition of the ISDE as slight favourites despite missing some of the riders who helped them to glory in Argentina last year. However perhaps without the clear advantage that they have enjoyed in more recent years the French squad look to have a real fight on their hands, a point that was reinforced by Ryan Sipes – Husqvarna from the USA topping the times in the opening test of the 2015 FIM ISDE.
