Offroadmotorsports /Wicked Bilt’s David Plavi took home his first win of the season in the XC2 SxS class at round seven of the 2015 GNCC series in Masontown, WV.

A rocky and technical course greeted racers at the Mountaineer Run GNCC, but Wicked Bilt’s David Plavi was ready for action and determined to finish on top in order to move up in the championship points chase.

In the SXS XC2 Pro Sport class, David Plavi clinched his first win of the season. Plavi grabbed the holeshot but fell back to second briefly. Plavi was able to regain the lead, both physically and in time, and held his lead all the way to the checkered flag. “I was on the first row for the start. I got the holeshot and caught up to the XC1 guys pretty quick. I dropped back to second early in the first lap, but I was able to get back to the lead the next lap, and I just stayed out front. It was huge to get my first GNCC win, and I knew if I just ran a smart race and had a little luck, I knew we could do it,” Plavi stated.

Plavi is now only three points behind the leader and could take the points lead at the next round if luck is on his side. “My Wicked Bilt Can-Am was working great. My steering was working great. I could actually steer with one hand it was so smooth and made a huge difference in the rocks. We did a few little changes on the suspension for this race, and it worked out great. I was way faster in the woods than everyone else. I’m really excited for the next round, and I hope we can get another win,” said Plavi.

Wicked Bilt’s Treavis Poynter was off to a great start right behind the leader, but he was following so close he hit a rock that he didn’t see in time, which sent him into a tree and rolled over.  Once he got going again, he made a series of driver errors that ended his race early.  “I haven’t hit anything in a GNCC race to cause a failure since Powerline Park in 2012, so this was a very odd mistake for me to make, and to make three of them in the same lap while leading the points is heart breaking to say the least especially since my Wicked Bilt Can-Am was working great. It really took a pounding out there, but next time we are hoping to do better and go for that win,” said Poynter.

Poynter is still third in series points and still in the hunt for the championship despite his set back at the Mountaineer Run. “We are still ok in points. Our Can-Am Maverick is working great, and I really want to get another win,” said Poynter.
