1. ePeeWee STACYC Racing: TBA
Round 11 of 2022 GNCC Racing season will see the series return to Sunday Creek Raceway for the Burr Oak GNCC. Sunday Creek traditionally hosts The John Penton GNCC each year, but the event was originally named Burr Oak when it was added to the series in 1990. With this return to Sunday Creek for a second event in 2020, the Burr Oak name was brought out of retirement and its fitting as this event was held in September a number of times through the late 1990s and early 2000s.
Obviously with this being held at a familiar venue, those who have raced The John Penton event, or the original Burr Oak events back in the day, already know what to expect. However, if this is your first time racing at Sunday Creek be prepared for anything and everything! Weather usually plays a big factor on this course. Traditionally, conditions seem to either be very dry and dusty, or full of the sticky, slick mud that Southern Ohio is famous for… And sometimes you’ll experience both in the same day!
The course is a fun one with a really cool mix of fast, flowing trails along with some tighter, slower sections thrown in as well. There are some gently rolling hills on the property, but not many big, long hillclimbs out on the course. The dirt is usually hard packed clay but you’ll also find some loamy topsoil as well, and there are even a few places where it gets a little rocky. For bike riders, we typically thrown in the infamous John Penton Section, which is a tight, technical, old school style section that is typically reserved for the 1PM Pro bike races only, although on occasion the 10AM race will ride into the Penton Section as well.
Overall this is a fun event that has remained a part of the series for many years for good reason. People really enjoy this venue and a return for a second 2020 event promises to bring even more good times out on a fun course.
