Welcome to Quick Fill.

First off, my apologies for missing the last couple of editions of Quick Fill. It’s been a whirlwind of a few weeks for our entire staff staying wide open with the events, prep for upcoming events and more. If you were at Mason-Dixon, you likely heard Ricky Towery’s prayer mentioned that my wife, GNCC Media Manager Kayla Bolton, lost her father the Friday evening leading into the Mason-Dixon event.

Kayla’s father, Denny Olliver, was an old-school motocrosser, racing through the early 80s and into the late 90s. While he never actually raced a GNCC, he attended quite a few GNCC events and was an avid fan. But, outside of motorcycle racing Denny was a truly stand up person, which is evident by the number of friends who showed up to pay their respects. Always humble, always kind and always full of good advice and good laughs, there’s no doubt Denny will be missed by many people. I’m not just saying this because he was my father-in-law, but because he truly was a good person.

Denny suffered through some heart issues on and off for several years, but always managed to press forward. Unfortunately, things went downhill incredibly quick in just a short amount of time. With Denny’s passing Quick Fill went on a short hiatus because family always comes first. However, Denny was the kind of guy who would want everyone to keep doing what they were doing and not worry about him, so we’re back on track now moving forward.

This week’s edition of Quick Fill will still be a bit on the short side as we’re wide open yet again this week as we’re getting ready for the High Point Pro Motocross National. This is always a really great event but these guys have had some really, really interesting racing thus far in the 2022 season and this weekend promises to produce even more. Since it’s an outdoor event with tons of room, there really isn’t a “sell out” point, so if you’re interested in checking out the racing you can get ticket info HERE. You can also still buy tickets at the gate as well.

Also taking place this weekend over in Austria is the Erzberg Rodeo, which is arguably the most famous hard enduro event in the world at this point. This year Kailub Russell is trying his hand at Erzberg for the first time and doing so on KTM’s Erzberg Rodeo Edition 300 XC-W, which should be cool to see KR on a 2-stroke.

Our attention will next turn to the Snowshoe GNCC, coming up next weekend. This is always one of the toughest and most grueling races of the season and while we’ve had to make some changes over the years and it’s not quiet as tough as it once was, it’s still pretty difficult. We’ve have all the details on what to expect from the Snowshoe course in next week’s edition of Quick Fill, and I promise we’ll make that edition happen; no missing that one!

With that said, we’re going to make this week’s Quick Fill really quick as we’re wide open in this prep for High Point this weekend. So, enjoy your weekend, we hope to see many of you at High Point and if not we’ll see you back here next week!
