GNCC Racing Returns to Ohio for 30th Annual Wiseco John Penton Race
Walker Fowler Aiming For 50th Win on Saturday, May 18

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 15, 2019) – The 2019 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series presented by Specialized, an AMA National Championship, returns this weekend, May 18 and 19, in Millfield, Ohio for The 30th Annual Wiseco John Penton GNCC at Sunday Creek Raceway. WFR/GBC/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Walker Fowler is looking forward to this weekend, as he will compete to earn his 50th overall ATV win in his home state of Ohio. However, that win may not come easy as the rest of the XC1 Pro ATV class look to stop Fowler’s success.

Walker Fowler will be looking to capture his 50th overall win this Saturday, May 18.

Sitting second in points, with one win to his name this season, is Maxxis/Fly Racing/Ye Olde Cycle Barn’s Chris Borich. After earning the overall win at round five, Borich is eager to return to the center of the podium. It has been since 2013 that Borich has took the John Penton GNCC win, and this weekend he will aim to change that.

LanMills XC/CST Tires/Houser/Yamaha’s Brycen Neal came through second overall after leading most of the previous rounds race in Indiana. This weekend Neal will be racing at his hometown race as he hails from Bidwell, Ohio, just one hour south of Millfield. Neal is hoping to get his first win of 2019 in front of his family and friends, and earn valuable points towards the National Championship.

Another Ohio native, Brycen Neal, will be looking to earn his first overall win of the season.

After finishing fourth at the previous round, JMR/Maxxis/Elka/Moose Racing’s Jarrod McClure is ready to get back to battling at the front of the pack. McClure has moved himself into the sixth place position in points after a disappointing start to the season, and continues to improve after finishing inside the top 5 overall at the previous three races. McClure is still searching for that number one spot, and with the forecasted weather anything could be possible.

Yamaha/AmPro/Action Offroad/GBC’s Cole Richardson came through fifth at the previous round, but will be aiming to return to the podium on Saturday afternoon. Richardson started the season out strong, but after some misfortune at Steele Creek he is looking to get back to the front and battle for his first win of 2019.

Sitting seventh in the points standings is Ryland Johnson Racing/GBC Motorsports/Ye Olde Cycle Barn’s Westley Wolfe. With a consistent start to the season, Wolfe is looking to break into the top five after finishing inside the top 10 at almost every event thus far in the year. Wolfe competes full time in the GNCC and ATVMX Series’ and is steadily improving each round.

Adam McGill sits third in the points standings, but is hoping to get back to the front of the pack and battle for a podium finish.

BNR Motorsports/GBC Motorsports/HMF Racing’s Josh Merritt and M.R. Unlimited/GBC Tires/RJR’s Devon Feehan came through in the seventh and eighth place position at the Yamaha Racing X-Factor Whitetails GNCC two weeks ago. This weekend Merritt, who hails from Ohio, and Feehan are looking to improve their standings and battle inside the top five overall.

OBOR/Moose Racing/Parts Unlimited/McGill Mafia’s Adam McGill has had a consistent start to the season and currently sits third in the National Championship points standings. McGill will be aiming to get his Honda-backed machine to the front of the pack and battle for an overall win this weekend. GBC/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Johnny Gallagher rounded out the top 10, and will look to continue this weekend and battle to progress his overall standing.

John Glauda Jr. is looking to keep his win streak alive in the XC2 Pro-Am class.

Continuing to lead the way in the XC2 Pro-Am is Pierce Performance/Maxxis/ Waynesburg Yamaha’s John Glauda Jr. with five consecutive wins under his belt. This weekend will be no different as Glauda is looking to keep his success rolling. BNR Motorsports’ Matthew Blankenship and Cumberland Cycles/Nine2 Technologies Tanner Walker rounded out the XC2 podium at the previous round, and are aiming to put a stop to Glauda’s dominating success. Another rider trying to put a stop to his success will be LanMills XC/CST Tires/Moose Racing’s Drew Landers. After a disappointing round five for Landers, he is aiming to get back to the front and get that class win in Ohio.

The Wiseco John Penton GNCC will also see the 15th Annual KTM Youth Day return, every Youth motorcycle racer who enters the John Penton GNCC will receive a commemorative Youth Day t-shirt featuring some of the fastest current Youth GNCC racers.
