SUBJECT: COMPETITION BULLETIN 2018-12:

Change to Podium Procedure for 10 AM Races

It has come to our attention that the new Podium Procedures set forth in Section J.5 of the 2018 GNCC Amateur Competition Rules, may adversely impact the ability of riders competing in points-paying classes from obtaining valuable contingency and bonuses.  It was not the intent of the new Podium Procedures to penalize riders in points-paying classes, but merely streamline the podium procedure.  Obviously, riders in the Sportsman and other non-points-paying classes are not eligible for series awards, hence they should not stand as a barrier to riders in points-paying classes from receiving valuable bonuses either.

Accordingly, for the remainder of the season, the rules are revised as follows:

5. Podium Procedure: The following racers will be recognized on the podium:

• 10 AM ATV:  The Top 3 Overall in points-paying classes, then Top 3 4x4 and Top 3 WXC finishers.  (revised 9.21.18)

• 10 AM Bikes:  The Top 3 Overall in points-paying classes, then Top 3 WXC finishers.  (revised 9.21.18)

Although GNCC strives not to make rule changes during the race season, in this case the change was appropriate.
